It's a SIS chipset, not VIA. That and he's already installed the appropriate patch.

I have a k7s5a & radeon 7500 duel booting w98se & XP.The xp runs great, the w98 would give me a blank screen(blue/gray)every other boot. I tried a different driver version, still the same.I thinks its a driver thing. The xp is perfect! The w98 gave me so much heart ache I dumped it & am running xp only.Got me pissed too.

How's everyone doing?

Back from vacation, still have problems. Playing Starcraft, yes STARCRAFT, not even a 3d game, and it locks up occasionally. (talk about irritating).

I've moved on to a DFI AK76 (I think that's the one).. I just can't figure this out. Time to install the 01/05/02 unofficial drivers.

I really don't want to move on to an Nvidia card, but if I can't make the lockups stop, I may be forced to.

Anyone else fix their issues or gain more? I'd be happy to hear from ya.

I solved my problem. I returned my radeon 7500 to newegg.com and reinstalled my trusty Gforce 256 DDR/DVI and my PC is 100% stable. this is the most stable system I have owned out of 4 computers.

I fixed mine too - replaced the video card with another AIW Radeon, but an AGP model this time. Works like a charm. I think I either had a bad board, or the PCI latency is too high and crashes something. I suspect the former, but the latter was probably not helping either.
