Hi,

Rad 7500LE 64mb DDR- $60

Or

Rad 8500LE 64mb DDR - $90

I currently have a GF2 GTX PRO and will soon be getting a LCD so I want the DVI output capability. I'm wondering if the Radeon 7500LE 64mb DDR card will suffice? I play the occasional game but am not a gamer. I'm more concerned with 2d quality and sharp text.
I guess I could go with an OEM Rad 8500LE but for my use and the price difference, I'm thinking the Rad 7500 will do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I'd look at a Radeon 9000 for about the same price as the 7500, far better card.

The 7500 should be about as fast as your current card and should suffice. If you get the 9000 series definately try and find a pro since the non pro really isnt much faster (if any) than a 7500.

that Radeon 7500LE is really slow... If it is made my PowerColor or Sapphire...then the clock speeds will be 250 core/183 DDR memory.

Yes the 7500LE cards are slower than normal 7500s, but in turn many of them are fanless - so if you prefer quiet over fast, way to go.

There are some 8500LE cards out there that can't do dualhead, despite having DVI and CRT connectors.

You might indeed want to look into an R9000 or R9000pro card instead. (As with 7500LE and 7500, the non-pro versions are clocked slower and use a slower RAM setup, and again, most non-pro 9000 cards are fanless.)
