Hi,

I have a Gateway NV55S04u laptop w/ Radeon HD 6520G and am trying to connect an Acer x223w monitor via the HDMI out.

I know the HDMI port is good as I've used it to connect to my HDTV's HDMI in with no problems.

I am using this cable between the HDMI out and the DVI in on the monitor: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-H.../dp/B001TH7T2U

However, I get a 'no signal' notification on the external monitor's on-screen display whenever both ends of the cable are connected. Windows/AMD Catalyst don't detect the monitor either.

The monitor has both VGA and DVI-D inputs, and the VGA works fine, albeit with some ghosting. There is an option in the on-screen menu to switch the input source between D-Sub and DVI-D, but DVI-D never seems to 'stick' and the monitor reverts to VGA within a few seconds after I try to select DVI.

Is the cable my problem? could the DVI input be faulty? Maybe some setting in the display settings needs to be changed? I'm at a loss as both monitor and cable are highly reviewed and others seem to have done this no problem. Unfortunately I don't have another HDMI source to test the cable.

Thanks in Advance.
