Just getting a thread up for this. Navi 24 will ride... Q1 2022... ish.

I fugure the 6500XT lands ~5500XT territory for ~$200.

Could work, but reasonable price? Not going to happen.

In all likelihood it would end up too close to the 6600 street price to make sense.

Would be it $100 cheaper? I think that’s what it would take to get my attention.

That would about split the price between the 6500 and full 6600 part, and since it’s likely the performance (and feature set) would likely be closer to the 6600 part, that might start to get compelling.

Matters not one wit how much more they disable Navi 23. It’s the same amount of wafers and die/wafer as before. Only a new smaller chip or additional wafers from a different process would result in increased chip supply. They did both.

So, move Navi 23 to N6 and get 10% more chips per wafer in the process...
Would have thought they should be able to get more than this? N6 should have greater yield than N7 due to less manufacturing steps. The N6 manufacturing lines also have greater throughput. All together 30-40% more dies? But depends on AMD's access to N6. TSMC is in demand.

Supposedly, N6 uses the same production lines as N7. Due to the simplified process, it looks like they can produce more wafers per month with N6. Also, currently, N7 is very mature, and yields are VERY good. Yield percentage on N6 may not be significantly highr than n7.

The following vid is tested with -

PC Specs: GPU: PowerColor Fighter Radeon RX 6500XT 4GB GDDR6
CPU: Intel i3 10100F 3.60 ghz (Turbo 4.30 ghz)
CPU Cooler: Intel Cooler Stock
SSD: 120GB SATA WD Green
HDD: WD 1TB HDD 7200RPM
OS: Windows 11 Pro 64 bit
Motherboard: ASRock H410M HDV
PSU: Deepcool DE600 v2 600W
16GB DDR4 2666Mhz (2x8 dual channel / CL 16 / Model: KINGSTON HyperX FURY)

That boys and girls is a modern budget build you can put together with warranties now. That gamers are sill buying 1050tis and 1650s in the same price range instead, is the real gaslighting.

Well, well... what have we here?

I wonder what the MSRP will be on this one.

HWUB tests low end GPUs old and new (including 6500Xt) at the lowest possible 1080p settings. I just assumed the 6500 would have no problem at potato settings, but that didn't hold for Cyberpunk 2077:

It does beat the 1650 NS. It is true that the 6500 XT is going to age horribly.

I suspect this could be because Wendell at Level1Techs (among a couple of other people) made 2 videos papering overr the 6500XT issues. I do think the 5600G flattered it a little, it's probably choke harder if put with a 4770K or similar type CPU.

5600G is PCIe 3.0, hardly a way to flatter the card. And I doubt a 4770K would bottleneck it. Pairing it with a 5600x would have shown it in its best light, but not the aforementioned 5600G.

And LULZ at cyberpunk'd. The most maligned game of the year, 2021, and for good reason. It is good for testing hardware, in that it is the worst case scenario said hardware will face.

That vid of 35 games tested on a 10100f is evidence enough of why it is the best sub $300 card. The soon to be 6yr old 1050ti is an insult, particularly at the current pricing, yet it is in the top 10 best selling cards on Newegg. THAT is the real tragedy that plays out every day; PC gamers buying that old garbage for more than it cost new bitd. In that light, the 6500xt is the best thing to happen for budget gamers.

Sad but true, based on the derp levels desperate gamers have been showing in their purchasing decisions. How do you pick a 1050ti over a 1650? o_O

They chose 1050ti over the rx570 that was 30-50% faster 3-4 years ago.

I have the same "RX6500XT is a crap" argument in another forum and some guys even suggested to choose used 1060/580 without warranty vs 6500xt even though the 6500xt has 3 years warranty + lower power consumption and some times it is even cheaper.
Not to mention that most of those cards could be mining for 1.5 years straight

I remember. The choice was more of a trust issue over drivers back then. Nvidia won most comparisons on that alone for the average gamer. But after nearly 6yrs, and a newer Nvidia card in the same price bracket, it is deranged behavior.

And the people debating you are parroting exactly what reviewers like techspot are saying about going used. Yeah, no, won't be buying an old card on the wrong side of the bathtub curve. Any arbitrary bang for buck analysis goes right out the window when that used card dies, and they have to go GPU shopping again, well before they should have.

The 6500xt is a bad card, but in reality, it is still the best sub $300 card. And while it may "age horribly", the 1050ti and 1650 already have. ;)

Why is there so much hate for the 6500xt? What were most reviewers (and many people on different forums) expecting in a market where prices for parts, substrates, raw materials rose and where a crypto mining boom caused a shortage of GPUs? AMD put together a card that allows for a MSRP of 200$ that miners won't touch with a ten foot pole.

Do I miss the hardware encoders? Sure. Do I want more than 4GB of RAM? I do and so do miners. Is the MSRP too high compared to previous series? Of course, but unfortunately times changed. For me it is the best new card that's available for 260€ (cheapest 3050 is 480€). I don't want a used card that's 3-5 years old, that might be a little faster and has no warrenty. Who wouldn't wish for a different market? But that's the world we live in and I don't want to wait years for the mining delusion to stop nor pay more than 300€ for a new 4GB gpu. In this market it's the gpu to go for, if you build a new machine and don't want or can't spent more than 300€. And the prices for the 6500xt will drop down more and more, because it's so unattractive for miners. It already affects prices for used hardware. Not everyone thinks like the big reviewers who actually have no need for a basic card like this. I am about to build a new pc with a 5800x and I am in need of a gpu. Show me a better new card than the 6500xt for the same price or below and I'd be happy to buy it.

Does AMD make enormous profits from the 6500xt or does NVIDIA by a highly overpriced 3050? No, stores make high profits in this market, distorted by the miners. If people want to get angry, get angry about miners, who waste an extreme amount of energy and material for money games. (btw this is not a call for another crypto discussion leading nowhere, please don't start)

All this tells me is PC gaymers deserved everything that happened to them in the last two years.

Why is there so much hate for the 6500xt?

Because it's a piece of junk.

It's literally worse than generation before(5500XT), in every way .

I suspect the same people defending the 6500xt would never stop complaining if the this were NVidia releasing a 3060 that was actually worse than the 2060 in every way. But they just feel a need to defend AMD no matter what they do.

It's not about defending AMD or bashing Nvidia or the other way around. If your are about to build a new pc now - as I am - the 6500xt is the best option available for this price. I don't like that. But the main problem are miners. If a new card would have the features we want, it would be more expensive to buy - as the 3050 is, LHR didn't help. :-( I don't care for MSRP in reviews. MSRP was a valid number 3 years ago, but isn't anymore. Look at the 5500xt. It's about 350€ used on ebay. The market is crazy. And I don't care, what name they give a card. If they would have named the 6500xt 6300 instead and gave it an MSRP of 150$ you would pay about the same as now, because every hand inbetween would just get a little richer. I am not defending any product, but I am also not living in a dream world. Sorry for the rant.
