Just getting a thread up for this. Navi 24 will ride... Q1 2022... ish.

I fugure the 6500XT lands ~5500XT territory for ~$200.

Moore's Law is Dead have said, in latest Broken Sillicon podcast, that according to his sources this GPU will perform slightly below RTX 2060.

Now here is my question.

What his sources have been smoking? I want some of it.

There is literally no way, that 1024 ALU/64 bit GPU would perform "slightly below RTX 2060" even with 2.8 GHz clock speeds.

This GPU might touch GTX 1660 Ti territory, in games that do not exceed 4 GB VRAM, and are, well - basically E-Sports games, but that is it.

And yes. If this GPU is priced more than 200$ MSRP - AMD is just having a laugh. More than that for 4 GB VRAM is absolutely not acceptable, even in todays market.

They can and will.
First of all, RX 6500 XT with 1024 ALUs and 64 bit bus will perform on average around GTX 1660, but having 4 GB VRAM. That is a the same performance as RX 5500 XT. So far, this GPU upgrade cycle we are getting better or equal performance to previous generation for the same, or lower price.

Getting RX 5500 XT performance for 250$ would NOT fit any of those scenarios.

Secondly, no they can't charge 250$ for RX 5500 XT performance.

Will they? It is a possibility.

Intel and Nvidia also are going to release direct competitors to this GPU, most likely, at lower MSRPs, than 250$.

MSRP has meant nothing for a good while. Its only use is for manufactured outrage, and fake talking points 1650s have been selling for over $300 for many months now. 1050tis for high $200s. The actual retail pricing on this card will be over $300. If it comes in under that, it will sell out rapidly, even if there is high availability at launch.

There will be the "X" factor entering the discrete consumer GPU marketplace, Intel! That means at least 30% more supply increase over 2021! Plus, NVidia and AMD want to hold on to their market share too, which means making more units to sell! Should be very interesting in 2022! I have my $300 to buy a brand new GPU with low profile 6-8GB GDDR6 model! The low profile form factor has been pretty much ignored for state of art cards and usually the grave yard form factor to the last stop until the card gets discontinued. General mATX and ITX buyers who are increasing wanting more, better lower watt GPU performance is knocking at OEMs to full fill this gap! CPUs have the 65w and 100+w class. GPU have the 75w and 130w+ class. Very few models that are in the 75w and LP too! Most are for CAD and specialized purposes for the price and cost up to an equal RTX 3070! How about a low watt LP that has current technology inside it, not 4-5 year old repackage LP models?

Let me put it this way, if it had 6 GB the real price would be $400.

I am talking about MSRP.

Getting this GPU for "street" price of 250$ will not be the worst thing in the world.

And I know it sounds contradictory to what I have just posted few posts above.

Its just a matter of companies using this oportunity to increase their margins, and this is what I oppose.

Thank you for the clarification, I agree with that sentiment.

I am thinking street price of $300+. How can it have an MSRP from AIBs of less than $299 when the 6600s are like $450?

I mean… GTX 1050a are $300 at NewEgg…

No MSRP under the 6600 will offend me. $329? Hilarious all the reviewers will rip it for having the same “price” as a 3060. Ignoring the fact that 3060s go for $700 easily.

It would be worth it for the lulz 😂

If it does cap out at 4 GB it won't be as desirable for mining. Sure there are still coins that can be mined on those cards, but they're not as profitable as ETH which requires more memory. The problem is that the market is still so desperate for GPUs right now that these will still go for a lot more than they should.

16CU N24 needs only 2500-2550Mhz to have the same GFLOPs as RX 5500XT(22CU at 1.8-1.85Ghz). For Full-HD, It is not such a bad card If I ignore the expected high price.
Only 4GB Vram is also a low amount, but there are no 16Gbit chips out and clamshell mode for a lowend card is out of question. They should have used 96bit GDDR6 bus for 6GB Vram while keeping 16MB IF or used 128bit GDDR6 without any IF for 8GB Vram.

If it had 6 or 8 GB of ram it would be $400+ and still be OOS.

I was discussing how good the chip is and what would be a better config in my opinion. I wasn't talking about price or availability, which is pointless in the current situation where pretty much everything is sold at ridiculous prices.

It can still mine rvn or altcoins for slightly less profit.

Its all about mem bandwidth really. This thing its not going to mine very well. Even if It had 8gb with just 64bit is going to mine around 15mh for eth. Maybe less.

With 6gb AND 96bit would be diferent.

This seems likely. The RX 6600 is barely decent for mining ETH. It's (slightly) more power-efficient than a GTX 1660 Super, but overall hashrate is lower. Density counts for something too, especially if these 6500XT cards are going to have a street price of $400, likely.

Anyone else hoping that gamers pick these up in droves, freeing up the higher-VRAM cards for us miners? *ducks*

Seriously, though, more better card supply == good. Even if only 4GB VRAM. Heck, GTX 1650 (if you can even find them these days) are going for $300-400. Crazy, I know.

Either that, or RavenCoin is going to get a whole lot more popular. Just think, when ETH goes Proof-of-Stake around June-July 2022, RavenCoin is next up for popular coin-of-the-day, so these 4GB RX 6500XT/6400 cards will now be able to mine the most popular coin.

So if you gamers want one or more of these cards, better snag them on release, before ETH goes PoS, because then the RVN miners will be snapping them up.
