Radeon 5450 output to Samsung HDTV, but 1080p desktop is larger than display area?

I'm using Radeon HD5450 to output via HDMI to Samsung 46" HDTV. For some reasons, at 1080p, the desktop is larger than the screen, so that the 4 edges of desktop cannot be seen as they are beyond the visible display (ie. task bar is below the visible screen area). I used ATI's software to reset, and change the resolution but whenever it is at 1080p, the desktop is too big. So right now I'm at 1000p, and it works fine, but only at 30hz refresh rate.

Any ideas?

Go to CCC -> Graphics -> Graphics&Displays -> Click on the small triangle on your HDTV on the SMALL TV ICON ON THE BOTTOM (not the big one in the middle) -> Configure -> Scaling Options and use the slider to make the screen fill your TV surface properly. Remember to switch to 1080p first.

Ok, the scale slider worked!! Thanks. I couldnt' get that at first, I wish CCC was more user friendly instead of hidden in some triangle buttons.

you still need to go into your tv's settings and change the HDMI input to PC mode (the input will still be HDMI). If you don't text will look like s#*t.

I have a 46" samsung and this was driving me crazy
