hi got an opportunity to trade my geforce2 for a radeon and a 10 gig hd. question i have is what do i loss/gain in the switching of vid cards? i play some 3d games not an awful lot( mostly newer games) and do some internet on it, is the 2d a big improvement? it sucks right now, also would i loss alot in the gaming? any advise would be appreciated, thanks

Saw that thread myself in the for sale forum 🙂 I have a Radeon LE 32mb,DDR, and the 2D is as good as it was with my G400 that I was running before. I have it clocked to 183/194 at present, and it's pretty fast, However, it seems win98 users have better luck with the radeon then 2k users, although Ati just came out with new drivers for both yesterday, which seem to have cleared up some issues. I also used to have the Asus V7700 Pure, and quite frankly, I like the Radeon better. Hope this helps.

I also have a Radeon 32 MB DDR retail. Its 2d is fantastic. I have some issues in the one game I play (Diablo2), not sure if video card related or not.

Before you go through the hassle of swapping videocards, remember that a 10 gig HD these days is essentially nothing-wouldn't be much of any incentive to me. You could go the newegg.com route, buy a Radeon LE (I think around $80-85) and do a simple registry hack and its as good as the full retail. (You can also add the fan, but Radeon's run real cool, don't really need it). You'd have $30-40 left over, which I would consider a high price to pay for a 10 gig HD.
