Lawton: I am talking about Radeon DDR 32MB with single head that is being sold on $90.00 price range. I heard this version of Radeon doesn't have Hyper-Z feature.
That is why price is so low. Customers should be aware of this, I think.

From Tom's Hardware:
HyperZ improves frame rates by about 20% right now and it will probably be even more soon, once all the features have the proper driver support. HyperZ reduces memory bandwidth requirements at the same time as it limits the waste of fill rate for pixels that are not supposed to be displayed. With memory advancing much slower than 3D chip performance ATi has done the right thing. If the memory doesn't get faster soon enough the solution is to use its bandwidth more economically. Radeon is the first 3D chip of the year 2000 that can actually live up to its (admittedly modest) fill rate claims.

Hey.

This OEM Radeon 32DDR is not the VE. The VE has not been released; it's expected around the end of this month. Also, I do not know anything about a 32DDR Radeon without HyperZ. HyperZ is one of the features of the Charisma engine, and you don't have a Radeon without a Charisma engine.

And further, even if it were possible to have a Radeon without HyperZ, you probably wouldn't notice it with current 3d apps. HyperZ isn't like 3dfx FSAA (impact right out of the box); HyperZ is on by default with every Radeon driver-set, but will require some software support--full DX8 optimization--to fully realize its bandwidth saving effect.

What I am saying is that ATI is making version of Radeon DDR without Hyper-Z
to keep production cost down. That can explain the reason why price came down so radically. And vendors should be explicit about this point when advertising.

Has anybody heard about this version of Radeon w/o Hyper-Z?

Seems like a really good price for this card and it has received very good reviews so far. I would interested if I hadn't gotten in on the MCI/$150 GC/Amazon deal back in Dec. I got the Hercules Prophet II MX for $5.50, and what a difference from my previous card the TNT2 M64 32MB.

So can anyone specifically answer this question:

Is this card being sold my newegg the VE without Hyper-Z or the plain vanilla Radeon 32 DDR????

Please somone answer this so I can decide whether to jump this deals bones....
🙂

Order 1 at $95.00 + tax =$102; Can I still call them up to adjust to today price drop? If anyone does, please let me know and Has anyone receive their yet?

SPECS AT NEWEGG!

The Specs link at Newegg.com state that this card does indeed have Hyper-Z feature.....hmmmm?!? I know, it's just a copy of ATI Radeon website page (noticed the fan on this unit photo?!?)....but it would be misleading to say that it has Hyper Z and then not have it, wouldn't it!!! :Q:Q:Q

🙂

Oh, and wife called and said that it arrived today 🙂

Received: This card has a sticker on the end of it stating it is a Radeon LE ....

Can't seem to find anything about it on the web as far as differences?!?....Is the clock speed the difference?

Thanks

New Low-End Solution from ATI to Come - 8:50 pm EST - MrB []
Spotted this at x-bit labs. It's about Radeon VE and also another Radeon board derivative coming out, the Radeon LE. Check out the news post here. Here's the main blurb:

RADEON VE, which is due in February will be priced at $130 and is very unlikely to offer acceptable 3D performance, since RADEON VE will have only one rendering pipeline and won?t have a T&L engine. The key feature of RADEON VE will be dual-monitor configurations support, which will make this card a perfect business solution, but not a gaming solution, unfortunately. That?s why now ATI can?t compete with GeForce2 MX because RADEON 32MB SDR costs considerably higher than its NVIDIA rival.
However, very interesting info about a new RADEON modification ATI is going to announce appeared in this Chinese web-site. In the nearest future ATI will supply the so-called RADEON LE (Low-End) graphics card. It will be destined to compete with NVIDIA GeForce2 MX in gaming applications. ATI will provide its RADEON LE with 32MB DDR SDRAM with 64bit bus to achieve this. As far as the number of rendering pipelines and a T&L engine are concerned, both will be present: RADEON LE will feature a fully-fledged Charisma engine and 2 rendering pipelines. However, RADEON LE may appear deprived of the HyperZ feature. As far as the working frequency is concerned, it will be reduced down to 150MHz.
This Low-End solution from ATI is said to be selling for only $100, which should make this graphics card a worthy purchase from the price-to-performance ratio viewpoint.
ATI hasn?t yet made any official announcements about its RADEON LE. As soon as we get some more info we will let you know.

LE = Low End

NewEgg should mention this in their ad if you ask me.

Can not return any more! uh! Newegg disconnect their 800 number. Can call to complain, need help! I got screw! help!

amn I was just about sold, how about those gefore 2 ddr 32mb at dreamland online for 150$ seems like a better deal, but anything is better than my tnt 32mb m64, which is the better deal the radeon or the gefore 2 ddr card?

Pretty shady of Newegg to leave out this detail. I was gonna pull out the plastic, but forget it, they ain't gettin' my money!
