Sounds like what the 2900XT should have been. If it has actual working AA hardware it might be a winner

oooo...I hope this is a good one as my Radeon x1800xt turns 2 years old in January so it'll be upgrade time. I simply can't pay $300+ for any videocard so if this one is priced right and is fast then we could have a great bang for your buck card for gamers like me.

We will see how performance is. I like ATI's Vista drivers and their continued work on that area so I'll stick with them.

55nm? Wow, niceness. 320 stream processors, BUT what's with the 256-bit bus? Oh nevermind. I get it. And see the price point.
Very nice, should be a great card for that money.

hopefully the bus won't make it a slow card.

I don't think it will be a problem. Nvidia's card is only 384, so it's not like 256 is far behind. I think AMD is right in that 512 is overkill though.

They don't expect this to be faster than the 2900XT do they?

Sounds like a great deal, but still early days. Bioshock has give my x1900gt new life - so maybe I will last until December before having to bite the bullet.

Yeah perhaps. I thought that Bioshock would run poorly but it's really not that bad. Although the textures are very low res and AA doesn't work.

I had originally thought maybe this would be the game I would need a DX10 card for, but I am spared for the time being :D

i really hope the 'on pair with the R600' part is true. only time will tell. like others, i myself cannot justify paying $300+ for a video card. thats why i sold my 8800GTS640 since to me, it didn't offer anything over my X1900XT256.

if it really has hd 2900 xt performance for 199-249 then where do I sign??? also, 55nm should run much cooler than 80nm.

Have to see that to believe it. Because that type of performance is almost to GTX levels in certain cases.

The 2900 XTX has already been released, it's called the 2900 XT with 1GB GDDR4 ;)

and in reality you might as well ignore it completely and just get a XT

I doubt that. This is not an architecture change right? Was it that the 2900 HAD the hardware but it was broken or that it was simply not built in?

So in November Nvidia will have a top-end GPU that is more than twice as fast as ATI's fastest offering...interesting and too bad.

Thats a pretty good price for great performace. Too bad it comes out in late 2007 or early 2008. So long to wait...

ROFL my sentiments exactly... Poor ATi :)

Oh well, they've got a great niche going, providing slower parts at a hell of a bargain price.

ATI has the R680 as well...which is the enthusiast part. This 2950Pro is for the performance "mid-range" sector.

Why don't you get Nvidia to make some decent drivers and just wait for all products from both manufacturers to be released and shown.

They have good drivers, why dont you buy a nvidia card before you speak.

Because I had one running in Vista x64 and their drivers suck. Completely suck...no excuse.

Don't worry it's natural to defend a product you own blindly :D

Seriously they have huge slowdown issues in a variety of games.
