radar detector

hi guys,

driving back and forth from school to home, a 200 mile ordeal, has left me paranoid over when the jelly stained arm of the law is going to catch up. As my grandma always said, prevention is better than cure...

now i know the valentine one reigns as a detector, and the passport 8500 is next in line, but those guys are made for people who can affford them.

i was considering the bel 960 or the bel 940 which have the same features as the bel 980 minus all the bells and whistles.

soo confused...help!!!

Wait, what state are you in?

I have a cheapo Cobra and it has caught every radar signature so far. I've always had a reliable time to slow down. Only time a radar gun doesn't work is when a cop clocks you from behind but if that happens, then you weren't looking in your mirror.

bel makes some very fine radar detectors. Mine has saved me tons of times. If you're interested, I can sell you mine. I don't use it much anymore because they're outlawed in Virginia ( POS state! )

I was looking at a Rocky Mountain Radar/Scrambler

here

Stepfather is a highway patrol and basically switches on his lazer detector only when he thinks a car is speeding. A detector is basically giving you advanced notice that you are going to be pulled over.

Well if you can't afford a radar detector then you probably can't afford a speeding ticket. Don't speed.

I used to have an older model bel (Bel 745 STi I believe) which worked wonders when I would go on trips out of state (since you dont know where the cops' fav spots are). However where I live, the cops never leave their radar on and/or they have the high-tech radar guns where they are already writing the ticket before the detector beeps. Also since it was an older model radar detector, the thing went off all the time due to cell phones and what not. So when I'm just going around town, I dont use my radar detector.

How do you know it caught every single one? 😕

tried many brandsm stick with Bel radars. I've got the 860 and that was like 4-5 years ago, still an awesome detector. However, there should be newer models that are way better than what I have.

i've got a bel980. had it for couple years and its saved me many times. just two saves pays for the detector itself.
