Radar Detector... recommend me one

I DONT want a jammer or anything fancier than a plain old Legal Detector which detects and voice alerts me.

I had a Cobra one for about 50-60 bucks, whose voice died out. It still works, but sorta worthless without any voice alert.

Has to be < $100, windshield mountable, etc. just the basics, u know what i mean.

theres no such thing as a good radar detector in that price range unless you're trying to only detect motion sensing doors

escort x50 or valentine 1, either will run 300 ftw

I'm partial to the x50 because I think its features (expert mode independantly tracks 8 targets) are much better and I got one....

of course I know where I live and where they are illegal or not.

I did not ask about their legality. i asked about the different options.

qft.... trust me, you need to get atleast the escort 8500 or the valentine one.... the rest will just warn you when you have allready been clocked and about 20 ft away from the police.....

note: a police officer can clock you a mile away... yes 1 whole mile...

By speeding do you mean in excess of 15MPH over the limit, or do you mean even 1 over? Because around here, if you're not at least 8-10 over, you're slowing down traffic.

A lot of retarded drivers dont understand the difference between speeding and reckless driving. And speeding does not cause accidents, reckless driving and being dumb does. Yes, speeding could be part of reckless driving, but its not the root.

You get what you pay for. Those cheap POS detectors are just that.

I have had a Passport 7500 for several years and it has served me well. The Passport 8500 and Valentine 1 are also excellent.

Just remember nothing replaces common sense and awareness. Watch for cops pacing behind you and the like. More often than not that is how people get busted.

I just got the 8500 X50 yesterday, so far so good.. its a big difference from my old cobra from 6 years back, which still works and has voice.

I liked the Cobra 9700 for 189, has voice alerts and stuff, but do not use the pop alert, it doesnt work. Its range is really good and feels solid.
