Rack Enclosure

Hey, I've finally given up on trying to buy a rack enclosure in FL. Can't find one anywhere within driving distance.
So, I've decided to try to go about building one myself.
I would rather it be enclosed, but if it's open, thats fine too.

Anyways, what I'm asking is, does anyone know of any sites, that have any kind of instructions/list of materials etc, or anything like that, to help me get started on building this thing? I'm not too great at this kind of stuff, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind.
Trying to get something together that is going to look nice together though, because it's going to be in the bedroom, not out of sight unforunatly.

Chris.

Keep your eyes out at various area auctions. You'll occasionally find a good rack enclosure that way. Keep in mind that a full-sized 72-u rack is going to be awfully bulky for a bedroom. If you want to build one yourself, you can find all the parts you need at your local Graybar supply shop. Just make sure what you build can support the weight of what you plan to install. It's not uncommon for a 4u rackmount machine to weigh over 100lbs.

I tend to agree with Crumpet19. It'll probably be more useful if you get a sturdy wire shelf unit and a rackmount adapter that way you'll be able to shelve your desktop machines too without having to buy rackmount adapters. Shelving units like the ones in that picture can be had for ~$80 at your local Sam's Club and can hold -alot- of weight. I have a pair of smaller wire shelves that's rated at 300lbs/shelf. The ones at Sam's have an additional center brace rod so they must be rated at 400-500lbs/shelf. They're sturdy.

Thanks for the help everyone.
If anyone in the Naples/Ft Myers area or somewhere near there, has a rack, they'd like to sell, or know where i can get one, please pm me asap.
