Racist comment or not.

Ok so my proffessor asked us why do we think a lot of minorities wear baggy clothing. A student raised his hand and said to hide weapons. Do you think that was racist.

I suppose it's racist in the sense that his statement was based on a stereotype. Lots of people wear baggy clothing and most of them don't wear them to hide weapons.

Do a lot of minorities wear baggy clothes (relatively speaking, that is)? Was the professor's first asumption faulty, leading the student to try to find a relationship where none existed?

hahaha..that's what i was thinking. 😀

My proffessor never assumed only minorities wear baggy clothing. He was saying why do many minorities wear baggy clothing. Not that most of them wear it. Also my proffessor is black.

"If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong. Corollary: If there is a worse time for something to go wrong, it will happen then."

What does that have to do with my statement?
