Interesting how after finding out that the 100 year old chased the customer out of the store, accused her of stealing, made racist accusations about "you people" being thiefs, raising her hand to slap her, and refusing to give her back her receipt, our resident right wingers still blame the black lady. That's called racism.

i almost always walk out of places without showing my receipt and no one ever says anything to me about it. but a couple of times as i was leaving a store they would ask another customer (usually a black) to see their receipt, and the customer would point to me and say something like "how come you didnt ask to see his receipt"? its been a little awkward, because they do sort of have a point...

that old bag clearly violate walmarts policies, i doubt she would still be working there if she werent 100

that old hag moves around pretty well for a centenarian. she should get an endorsement deal with that "ive fallen and i cant get up company"

that video is sort of ridiculous, its obvious shes trying to "teach the awesome dude a lesson" by checking every single item in her basket just to embarrass her and waste her time. i would have been pissed too, i probably would have puncher her, not just pushed her down

When she was asked to clarify what she meant by "these types of people," Speelman said, "Mexicans, Spanish and colored people," according to the report.

Speelman also said "these types of people" are "difficult to deal with," the report says.

WTF? There's hispanics, blacks and colored people in Wisconsin? I mean, by the droves that it's noticeable?

Also, the lady spent a night in jail for this!

The guy in the hoodie who just ignores the fact that the old lady is on the ground is kinda funny too.

Once you go outside whan a business is open to the public that is a public parking lot. Stores never allow workers to accost people outside of their doors. The law is in favor of the public outside the store.

Public parking lot? Wrong!

Parking lots in front of stores which own and provide access to those parking spaces is considered private property.

The ONLY reason the McDonalds coffee lady got so much money was because they were able to prove that it was company policy to keep the coffee dangerously hot in order to improve/cover up its taste.

Um, no.

This is a fallacy. The temp McDonalds kept their coffee at is the same temp any gourmet coffee website recommends as the serving temp. Starbucks to this day serves their coffee HOTTER than Stella's coffee was (Stella's was estimated at 170 degrees when she spilled it). The National Coffee Association recommends coffee be brewed at "between 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal extraction" and drunk "immediately". If not drunk immediately, it should be "maintained at 180-185 degrees Fahrenheit."

McDonalds lost because they didn't take the case seriously and offered no evidence to support the temps the coffee was served at.

Public parking lot? Wrong!

Parking lots in front of stores which own and provide access to those parking spaces is considered private property.

Most parking lots are NOT owned by the stores, but by property managment companies leasing the store spaces. So even if it is private property, the store has no legal grounds outside of the space it rents.

Though, Wallmart does tend to own the entire property.

Perhaps you should RTFA yourself. The only thing that could even remotely get close to something you could sue for is grabbing the arm, and I'm guessing you're going to have a hard time arguing "assault" when a 100 year old touches your arm.

Her racist remarks (and even those are extremely "tame" compared to what you might hear from a racist) are not illegal and not actionable.

agreed. This might be something to get annoyed or upset about, but not to sue about.

I feel sorry for the customer here, but I think that the DA handled this appropriately. Walmart has no right to check your receipt as stated above. The "you people" comment, while indicative of latent racism, may be a bit overblown. Once you get to that advanced age, you probably aren't going to be changing their views. Just let 'em be. She isn't long for this world anyway.

I hate door nazis myself and usually just keep walking if no kids are with me.

This whole assumed to be a thief deal needs to go.

Sorry, I have to side with the customer here. First, I think it's a sham that Walmart is allowed to check a cart and in this case she did so outside the store. I have completed a contract after I have paid, and Walmart should not have the right to review anything after such contract is concluded.

Additionally, I would be upset to if she was spouting off at the mouth and kept me standing there for over a minute so she could check every friggin thing in my cart.

This. And here is another reason NOT to shop at Wal-mart

Were is the racist part . Certainly not the words YOU PEOPLE. I use the term with whites all the time . When I went to school my teachers used that term all the time . If there was a racist thing happening here . It was the younger black person pushing a 100 year old person to the ground . I might not be viewing this correctly and I don't wear tinted glasses. But come on . The younger women is a pure ass racist bitch. Playing the race card.
