To play the part of Devil's Advocate: neither do demographics. New Orleans is almost 70% black....IF people are looting equally, then you have a better chance of seeing a black person do it.

Heh, so what should we do?

If over 70% of the looters are black don't let them loot and open the gate for the white looters. I mean heck, the quoted articles by the OP follow the quota.

"step right up! We've held down the blackies so that you! Yes, you! Whitey! can get yours. Now keep in mind we must maintain proper quotas."

lol, I dunno. I was just responding to the whole "the videos don't lie" statement, in the sense that a video without context is meaningless.

Obviously, law enforcement (local, military...not vigilantism) should arrest any and all offenders that they can regardless of race.

If that means 70% of the population in New Orleans is Black, and so 70% of looters are black, and so 70% of detainees in N.O. jail cells are black, and someone wants to turn that into a racial battle without thinking of the context....well, that's his/her perogative.
 
The beer is a little questionable, but the food and whatnot I don't consider looting under the current conditions in New Orleans. I mean how the hell are you going to pay for something if you don't have any cash on hand and all the ATMs are underwater? You aren't. You're going to take what you need because everyone else is going to take what they need. You do what you need to in order to survive.

Last one says "gee, some bread was floating around."

hmmmmmmmmmm....

I think these pictures are rediculous. People dont account for the bias of those taking the photos, and those publishing the photos. Obviously these pictures were chosen to achieve the above affect.

I really hate that guy Marshall, he's ruining it for everyone. 😛

And yes, all looters should be dealt with deadly force at a time like this.
 
Sitting in my well-lighted office with AC, it's hard to tell who is looting to snag more stuff and who is looking for something to eat.

I would arrest looters, certainly- that way the hungry ones get food and a secure place to stay, and the crooks get jail (same thing) but I suspect that most of the 'shoot 'em all' crowd would be the first ones in the whiner parade when they found out that an old lady got shot trying to get food, or a homeowner caught a round after salvaging his own belongings.

Don't replace the justice system with crosshairs, folks.
