So a canvasser goes to a woman's door in Washington, Pennsylvania. Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she's planning to vote for. She isn't sure, has to ask her husband who she's voting for. Husband is off in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back, "We're votin' for the n***er!"

Woman turns back to canvasser, and says brightly and matter of factly: "We're voting for the n***er."

wtf moment. Is this progress? Maybe it is. Anyway, it is perhaps the unique American pysche. I thought it was priceless, so I shared it.

So then ***** is just a word - you can't be both racist (that is to believe that white race is superior to all others, bar none) and at the same time vote for the black guy.

Yes you can. It means self interests can trump race which points out the stupidity behind it. Even a racist will take help from a black man if it will save his sheet wearin ass.

No way,
if you are truly racist, you'd believe that the white candidate is inherently more apt to help you. Otherwise you're not racist. Also saying the word n!gger doesn't make you racist...

There's a big difference between racism that gives the tie to the white guy every time and racism that gives the game to the white guy every time.

Both are racist and simply because someone shows a greater degree of racism than another doesn't prove that the one with the lesser degree of racism is 'not a true racist'.

This is a good point, Everyone is bias for a variety of reasons. Height it is a very big thing that we are bias regarding that we fail to check ourselves against.
I didn't know Republican was a race.

Ya don't suppose the folks in the article were speaking about McCain... he is a bit cheap and all that and Obama intends to give the farm away so I'd not refer to him as being N******ly

Ya know this is something I really have a problem with.
If blacks don't like that word than they shouldn't use it. I know they say it differantly.

But it is a slap in the face to . Us Honkeys.Really bad this was even reported. Alot of people say things in private they wouldn't in public out of respect only.

Only the younger generation uses that word, in a strange sense of camaraderie (sic?). The older generation is appalled that the younger generation uses it because it was the former that went through all the hardships to get the latter the freedom they have.

Yup, blacks throw that word around today like it's the latest craze. Take popular hiphop artist Nas, he was going to name his latest album "Ni**er" but changed it last minute because allegedly the White House called Def Jam and complained. His original track listing included "Be a Ni**er too", "N.I.*.*.E.R. (the slave and the master), and "Ni**er Hatred". Link to Amazon reviews.

It just sickens me that kids, especially black ones, use that term like it's going out of style.

Let's see,

- No source cited by the blog
- Uses an "approved" cultural stereotype (hicks)
- Ironic flavor implying that even when hicks do the right thing (vote for Obama according to the website) they are still ignorant and racist.

This has all the markings of an urban legend. The only reason to believe this story is if one wishes to confirm one's own prejudices against rural people.

Yeah this sounds like it was taken directly from an email forward, like that made-up quote where Michelle Obama said something about the U.S. being the best country and now we should change it.

That's disturbing because I read 538 a lot and if the people there think something like that is worth posting then I'm not sure I can really trust them.
