Now that that ship has sailed, with USA's first non-white president, I'm just wondering if it will still hold up with a few idiots out there still applying the race card in their lives, e.g. at their place of employment, college admissions, etc, etc.

To me anyways, it seems the argument won't hold up any more as winning the highest office in this country is such a great example.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure examples of racism and bigotry will keep going but that's because every single person has their prejudices and biases and yes its sad but have to be expected coz we're only humans and we have our own set of biases either learned from self experience or taught.

I'm just thinking about the whole 'big picture' when it comes to the issue of using the 'card' in the backdrop of Obama's win.

Although it does remove some ground for those who don't bother trying 'because they cannot be succesful due to racism' it does not magically remove all racism from society. It doesn't mean that the FoxNews, FreeRepublic and HillaryClintonForum people are suddenly gone.

It will give hope though to people who may keep on trying where they would otherwise have given up.
