Huzzah, let the endorphins flow and stave off depression for another year. Sadly, I'll be doing 99% of my training alone this year. Bah.

Cactus ChaCha = 9 Oct - ~1hr 3m
GoDaddy Half Marathon = 23 Oct - ~1hr52m
ARR Just Another Mad Dog 50K = 13 Nov
ARR ThanksGiving Day Classic = 25 Nov
R&R Las Vegas = 5 Dec
ARR Desert Classic 30K = 19 Dec
PF Chang's Rock and Roll AZ = 16 Jan
ARR Desert Classic Half Marathon = 29 Jan
IMS Arizona Marathon = 20 Feb
Run for Ryan House Half Marathon = 5 March
Mesquite Canyon 50K = 12 March
Whiskey Row Marathon = 30 April

Mesquite Canyon is a new race for me this year, should be a beautiful course.

Wow, you've really got it packed in there 🙂

Up here we sort of have two racing seasons: the fall and the spring. I'm sure racing in the summer is a lot more feasible here than there, but it's still not comfortable. It's pretty sweet that you can go right through the winter with no interruptions.

If you're feeling lonely during your training, just think of how after the run you'll pop into the mileage thread and get props for the huge contributions 😉

Tough schedule Bateleur, props for signing up for all of that. Me on the other hand... my wife would drop kick me for that.

Here's my schedule:

9/25 and 9/26 - pacing my buddy at Virgil Crest 100 (running just over 50 miles)

11/6 - Mendon Ponds Trail Runs 50k

My daughter has challenged her entire cheerleading squad to do the 5k or 10k when I do the 50k. She did the 5k last year and had fun. This could be interesting.

And then I might do some snowshoe racing in the winter.

Medved Madness (15 mile trail race) in early May
Sehgahunda Trail Marathon over Memorial Day weekend. Sehgahunda is brutal.
Virgil Crest 50 in late September. Brutal also, run on black diamond ski slopes...

Not too difficult, those those 50Ks are going to be difficult. That's the point though. Still looking for a semi-local Ultra that gives belt buckles for finishers, I think Javelina Jundred and Zane Gray 50M do, but I'm not 100% certain. Pretty sure on Javelina though. Unfortunately, my work schedule really doesn't allow me to train for a 100M. And that'd be a doosy to train for solo.

This is my challenging race for the year, but honestly, that's the end of the season almost. I'll probably take it at a relaxed pace, take my phone or camera with me, and get some nice pictures.

Have to make up for my first time doing Whiskey Row in 2009 though. I was sick, did the course on ~3hr of sleep and was hacking up phglem most of the way. Only race in my life where I seriously considered turning around at the half marathon point. Glad I finished the complete race, but I was too queasy to enjoy any of the post race festivities. :/

Next year, I want to try knock out more of the Rock and Roll events, get some more of the Heavy Medal series. The Rock Legend medal for 8(?) events would go great with my Vegas Elvis running costume. After that, 50 States Club?

Dang son, I can't imagine running so many long races in such a short time. Two marathons a year is more than enough for me!

I just ran my first goal race of the season, a 15K. I have three 5Ks scheduled on the 18th, the 26th, and October 3rd. Hoping to run somewhere around 16:00 for all of them, although I would be satisfied with anything under 16:30. Then I'm getting married on the 10th so no running for me for two weeks while we're in Italy! When I get back I will do the Buffalo Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and the 6-race winter series around here like I do every year.

I can't imagine only doing two marathons a year. What fun is that? I only do one or two for speed, but the rest are purely for pleasure.

I'd definitely like to do more, but I take about 6 months to train for each one. If I just did them for fun too I'd be able to do more, but I'm still at the point where I have the potential to improve on my time every time I toe the line, so I can't not go all-out. Once I start slowing down I'll probably do more, but I still don't know if I could even handle doing as many as you do. You must be incredibly resilient!

Bump, second event completed. Few changes though, ARR Mad Dog got knocked down to the 25K because my training and work schedule suck. Bitch to solo train for those long marathon events too.

Since all my partners bailed out of the R&R LV event, that's also getting nixed. 🙁 A shame, its usually pretty fun. But, nuts to going to Vegas by myself.
