And how can you tell if someone is a Muslim male extremist? Would a terrorist actually admit that? Islam isn't even race, but a religion.

But, I believe the system should be updated and sped up so they just check everyone at airports. If the airport security can make me take apart my laptop every time I get on a plane, then everyone should be inconvienenced as well.

I don't know what airports you've been at but all the ones I've been to have checked me EVERY SINGLE time in these 'random' checks... And I'm Indian (and not muslim), but I've been informed by many that I 'look' like a 17-40 yr old muslim.

I don't know what airports you've been at but all the ones I've been to have checked me EVERY SINGLE time in these 'random' checks... And I'm Indian (and not muslim), but I've been informed by many that I 'look' like a 17-40 yr old muslim.

Well I have a pretty large camera and I didn't even have to turn it on when I flew to Japan, via a stop in Texas, and back the same way, back in March. I've done some flying since 9/11 and I'd estimate that security is more lax now than it was in the little while afterwards. It's really lazy and wouldn't take a rhodes scholar to think of ways to get contraband on to a plane.

I have no problem with racial profiling because I think in most instances it will help alleviate alot of stress on everyone's part. I'm just trying to inform everyone that it DOES happen.
 
Exactly. People fail to realize that most terrorist attacks on civilians in the last fifty years have been committed by people that all kind of look the same. Arabs.
 
let's see, i am a 17 - 40 year old middle easterner (Persian Jewish, not Muslim) and I do look like a terrorist, not.

but having flown about six times in the past week, will tell you that this is ridiculous. they are checking the wrong people. some poor 80 year old lady was searched who could barely walk on her own. that is wrong.

i am happy they stopped asking that stupid luggage question at least.

Well, I've had problems in airports before 9/11. The company I worked for before 9/11 used to send me all over the US. If they pick anyone in the line to do the cavity search it will be me. Must have been the nappy/shaved head and goatee. Now I rather just drive. I'm not even Arab/Indian. And the Black Panthers haven't been an issue in years!

Just look around when you're at your gate... If you see someone 'suspicious' (17-40 yr old muslim lookin fellow) I guarantee that he WILL get checked. It's called a random check so they do have to check other people as well. I don't know why they picked the 80 year old woman but she's just a random person OUT of the profiled people.
