This is just a trend that I see and everyone else I talk to sees as well.

No one has an answer.

Yes, there are exceptions to the rule, but generally, all of the above statements are true.

Edited the TE spot to say "not many".

I don't think the trend starts at the NFL. I see this trend in the NCAA, and I suspect that it's about the same in HS. So.... do young kids who're just starting to play football get put into certain positions based on their race, or do kids identify with certain positions based on what they see on TV(i.e. more black kids want to be RBs because they want to be like LT, more white kids want to be like Peyton Manning)?

Or do black kids run faster than white kids when they're 10 yrs old? If we could put these little kids through something similar to NFL combines we would know more!

The only asian I can remember was Eugene Chung (offensive lineman) for the Patriots in the late 80's or early 90's. He sucked though.

Dat Ngyuen was one of the best linebackers in the nation when he played for Texas A&M and a very good linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys

If you want to move this down to NCAA football LSU has a white starting running back in Jacob Hester.

Black people and white people AREN'T 100% the same, that's why they call them different "races". Does this mean there can't be a good black kicker or white running back? No, of course not, but in most cases, that's just how it works out.

Since we're all generalizing...

I'll go ahead and say what all the politically incorrects try to tiptoe around...

Black people are better athletes... bigger, faster, stronger
White people are better thinkers... analytical, decisive, composed

Generalizations to the extreme...but this is why you see more white QB's & Coaches... and more black RB's, WR's & etc...

Want another generalization? Black people cant play hockey...

Its not discrimination, its not prejudice... its just simple fact... we're different.

Rabbits dont climb trees, and squirrels dont dig holes into the ground.

Your comments on blacks are biologically proven. Their muscles are genetically "better" than whites. Your comments on whites are not proven.

I totally agree. I think it is just as much a culture thing.

Black communities and peers do not support their kids to become kickers or tight ends.
White communities may support their kids to be in all positions (think middle America football country), but they get beat out at the high school / college level by superior physical black kids.

Actually, blacks generally have better "fast twitch" muscles while whites seem to have better "slow twitch" muscles which is why you usually see the fastest man at a track meet is black but the worlds strongest man competition is usually won by a white athlete.

Oh, and all you guys who think you are smart by finding the exceptions to the rules...
...you are only highlighting my point by drumming up old and/or mediocre players.

ahhh....what?

By this post, you seem to say that black football players are superior in all positions, they just aren't "raised" to play those positions.

Also, this "culture" argument neglects the fact that quite often star athletes change positions between high school and college, and then from college to the NFL. It might be true pre-high school, but at the higher levels, players will play at the position they are best at. Do you really think, say, Bill Parcells really cares what culture thinks about the race of his players, per their position? Or Joe Paterno for that matter?

I think someone cares. At the college/pro level, they don't care, as long as they are a great player. At the lower levels though, I think the coaches would have greater influence over who starts at what positions.

Probably, but like I said, its normal for a player to be moved to a different position when they go to college, or to the NFL. So even if they were stereotyped into one position at a lower level, if they really were better at another, they would most likely have moved there by the time they reach the NFL.

Probably because white guys don't want to play WR/RB, or they suck. And because black guys dont want to play kickers/TE, or they suck.

I want to know why there's no Mexican football players. Statistics have shown that they're the best at getting stuff across borders, sneaking around border guards, and getting into other territory.

I think it's a language conversion issue.

I think the kids say they want to play Football (Futbol Americano), but the parents think they said they want to play Futbol (soccer).

So all the poor Mexican kids end up playing Futbol (soccer) instead.

It's tragic...

I also believe there was some Japanese receiver that played for the Falcons in the preseason. There's not many asians overseas who play american football or even know what it is. And over here in the US there's not many asians at all.
