Yup, his symphonic dances are one of my reference music selections for when I audition speakers.

I love classical music and all, but with Howard posting some thread the other day and now this one...enough already. Either maintain a classical music discussion thread or post more than "this is awesome", give a description of why - the conductor, the interpretation, the playing, the recording, etc.

Maybe I'm in a grumpy mood, but whatever :p

Oh those cheery Russians. ;)

BTW-I took my wife to see a performance of that piece at the Hollywood Bowl in the early 90s when we were dating. Andre Watts was the pianist and he performed this with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. My wife was actually moved to tears during this it was so beautiful and melodramatic. Beautiful piece. :thumbsup:

I've always been a huge fan of his 3rd Piano concerto. Earl Wild's interpretation is my favorite. :heart:
