Evidence of what? There's strong evidence that his father, whom he says is a black man, is white. What in the article contradicted this? They didn't even address it. And no, I didn't just stick to the tweets, I mentioned things said by the author of that article...

lol nice! I detect your sarcasm :)

Twitter has become a cesspool of lies...and perhaps it always has been. I really hope news agencies start to distance themselves from what's "trending"...

Any tweet "OMG THEY BRINGING TANKS OUT HERE!" "THEY JUST SHOT 10000 PEOPLE" "I JUST SAW BIGFOOT!" seems like it's not questioned. It gets thrown around, shared, posted on facebook, and then last but not least, given attention with national media as a hot "Trend".

Such a sick and disgusting cycle.

This really really puts into perspective why USA didn't get involved in the arab spring twitter revolutions. I remember reading those tweets and seeing the videos and being utterly shocked and dismayed at our lack of intentions of helping...and I vaguely remember a US official stating they are carefully observing the situation and trying to figure out really what is going on. I wonder what really went on now, because Twitter has shown me proof that it's extremely easy to mold your own narrative using specific pieces of news and commentary.

I now will not trust any judgment laid on Twitter or any social media for that matter, until someone objectively reports on it.

This; twitter is a great way to spread whatever propaganda you need with minimal cost. Nothing but an astroturf marketing soapbox.

The bottom line is that the guy has been outed as a complete fraud, he got a scholarship that should have gone to someone else, and has lied and fabricated stories to build his SJW cred. His race should not matter at all in terms of supporting some social cause, but he was probably well aware that many in this particular movement are racist and would not tolerate anyone outside of the approved race being part of (or even leading) the movement.

Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King, who claims to be biracial, is accused of lying about his race by conservative news website, Breitbart.

Suspect.

Second so where are copies of the arrest record and/or birth certificate? If there really is an arrest record is race just filled in by the police? How would they know other then just guessing.

But according to the conservative news website Breitbart, he is white. Breitbart claims to have unearthed King’s birth certificate from Sept. 17, 1979, which lists him as being born in Versailles, Ky., to a father named Jeffery Wayne King.

Notice BB didn't mention his birth certificate said "Caucasian" They just said we have it but doesn't show copy.

Daily News has no proof either just parroting a rumor which is how the right wing press works.

So far shens until hard evidence.

Just like dolezal, this idiot is doubling down on his lies because he knows there are fools out there who will continue to believe his garbage. He'll continue to lie and play it out, and then eventually come up with some BS story to justify the lies. Idiots will nod their head approvingly as he does this.

So DailyKos themselves (which as mentioned Shaun King is a staff writer for) actually posted an article raising concerns about him:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/07/24/1405246/-Is-there-something-fishy-about-Shaun-King

The comments section is packed with people dismissing the claims out of hand without any attempt to investigate, or insisting conspiracy is afoot. In fact, there was not a single comment there that wasn't dismissive or defensive. It was topped off by someone calling the author a racist.

Confirmation bias is a powerful thing.
Progressives are immune to this common psychological malady...everybody knows this.

Some people live their lives wanting to be the under-dog, wanting to live the struggle, carry that cross. It is an attractive concept. I can't really fault anyone for not. In a way, that is a uniquely American thing to be attracted to.

This is why the Palestinian movement receives so much support from USA, in my opinion. Many of these anti-government people will blatantly show ties to Palestinian support. What's interesting is that if you watch some of the streams, there is clearly hardly any action going on. Police are generally doing their own thing and protestors are doing theirs...but everyone wants to get those flashy instagram photos when some idiot starts throwing shit at the cops or someone lights a car on fire. The recreation attempts at creating an image of a desperate life/death struggle is obviously very difficult and stressed. No, sorry, this isn't Palestine. You are not taking back "the homeland"....someone just threw a water bottle at a cop and they shot CS Smoke at the crowd to disperse it. Quick, jump into the smoke for a quick photo before you run off to safety. That's right, you just ran to "Safety", which doesn't exist in other countries where they do these things for real.

Same goes for right wing movements, like sovereign citizens (can i call that right wing?) or tea party etc. They will compare the country to Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany etc. etc. when in reality it's absolutely nowhere near. They will show pictures of federal police agents and then make quick shallow comparisons to brown shirts or something.

Anyway, I have absolutely no problem with people like Shaun King supporting a struggling movement that is, at it's core, a positive and great thing. BLM is a good movement. What I have a problem with, is people lying to make themselves have a greater and more visible appearance in the movement.

Instagram and Vine won't win any causes, work needs to be done BEHIND the curtains! Sadly, I don't think anyone wants to work behind the curtains anymore.

Rachel Dolezal and Shaun King can still own their whiteness and be major players in BLM. If they can't be major players, then they either have nothing good to say or BLM is not as great a movement as we thought it was.

Daily Kos is a dumpster fire. It's ATP&N on steroids.

To be fair, there is the possibility that his mother was impregnated through an extramarital affair with a black man, but chose to put her husband's name on the birth certificate. Certainly in this picture, from his sophomore year in high school, he looks biracial to me:

king-sophomore-in-high-school.jpg

In addition, his high school classmate and teacher corroborate his description of the beating and racial slurs he endured. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...bloody-pulp-school-regularly-branded-n-r.html

The whole story is goofy, and certainly if he is white this looks like a racket on his part, but I don't know that it's fair to draw firm conclusions just yet.

Mostly the shape of his head and the texture of his hair. Obviously I can't be certain, but to me he looks biracial.

Many of us can pass as biracial if we simply adopt certain cultural characteristics. I think that is what is fascinating about USA because for the most part it is still a melting pot and one of the few places where people can adapt/flow with whatever identity they choose.

Have to agree on this. I'm not sure I would have guessed black, but I would not have categorized him as white (at least not entirely) based on every picture I've seen.

He may have played a little bit with the truth, but it doesn't seem like an outright lie like Dolezal.

That is a possibility and it actually fits pretty well in explaining his quote about his racial story being "hurtful and scandalous."

If that's what happened I feel sorry for the guy on his birth certificate but I also feel sorry for him for having to be falsely represented by it and now have to deal with this.

I wonder if either the father on the birth certificate or the mother (assuming she's still alive) will comment on this. I'm sure plenty of people are trying to get whatever comments they can from his family.

That picture makes it look more doubtful, but if you look at other pictures he looks white, just with a very short cut.

Now there is also further information coming out about his activities as a fundraiser (prior to SJW stupidity) , there are allegations that he committed fraud with the fundraising activities.

There's always the possibility that his father is not the guy listed on the birth certificate. Some group has offered $25k to his group if he can prove that he is black, or agree to a DNA test to prove it. He won't of course, because he's a giant fraud.

This is just eerily similar to that dolezal, same mo, same shady activities, same fakery and lies about attacks and victimhood and so forth.
