So how did DSLR LOSE 4,000 WU's or so? If I understood the race correctly, a member dropping out of the team leaves their production behind and further WU's by that user doesn't add up to the team, but whatever he's produced while he's in the team is preserved. Seeing that, I can't understand why their score was reduced by 4,000.

can someone explain?

I'm confused

Well almost...except backward.

Any WU's that were on the team when the race started stays (whether via handicap or member)...Any WU produced during the race that leaves with that member before the race is through is subtracted from the race total and is NOT included in the handicap.

Stone had some 4000 WU's when the race started...he produced over 6000 after the start of the race. DSLR received the handicap of 4000 for his departure, but lost the 6000 because they were produced DURING the race...

Sucks to see people leave! :)

Would it even be a fair competition now? I was enjoying it because we were very close at each others edge, but once we start flying up high like that it gets boring and I sort of lose competitive spirit

That's why some are focusing on moving to #10 in the overall stats....some 3 or 400,000 WU's to go :Q

and don't count DSLR out...it's a long race and anything could happen! :Q

Ok, my bad.. I didn't pay close enough attention to the rule.

Anyway I'm not very happy the big guy left DSLR. Its good for our race score, but now with day and night differenc in ours and their production compared to being on each other's edge a while ago, whats the fun of racing?

I'm quite pissed to be honest.

Don't even begin to count them out yet. They're a very resourceful team, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they had something up their sleeves. :Q

Stupid question, but I haven't been able to find answer:

What is the goal of this race? I mean, first team to produce 100.000 WU's? 1.000.000?

Correct me if I'm wrong. The goal of the race is to see who finishes with more WU's at the race conclusion. If TeAm Anandtech has more WU's produced than Team DSLR, we win. I'm not a major player (8-10 WUs per day) but I'm going to ride this thing out. I have 4 POS PC's crunching SETI @ home and I hope to assimilate more than the three I have now at work. (Should get me to 20+ WU's per day.)

You are correct sir! :)

One other thing...everyone is a major player in this race! Whether you produce 1 or 1001 WU's, we won't win this race without a complete TeAm effort. :)

(But we are awful glad to hear about your new machines coming aboard! ;):) )
