R9800XT temperature question

it looks like my Radeon 9800 XT idle temperature is about ~70c (driver overdrive page)

can video cards be so hot? also when playing it gets closer to 80c

idle mobo temp: 35c
idle processor temp: 31c

no graphical problems etc
