R9 Nano price drop

I should have it in a week, I'll update after I finish my new build and have it going. Probably in about 10 days.
If I'm happy with it, I'm going to replace my current build GTX 970 FTW+ with another R9 Nano and fit everything to a smaller case.
Can't wait for it. Keep us updated. Many thanks

Wonder why AMD didn't just partner with some company to have a custom case designed for the Nano. Wouldn't have taken much effort to come up with something I'd think.

Or more (any?) mini-pc design wins? The GPU on it's own is too reliant on others to actually market it.

Exact reason why I'm waiting for nvidia hbm cards. Once that happen three will be cases.

After seeing the AMD branded HAF 932-X (or whatever model number), no thanks. I'll stick to my neutral GPU brand cases.

Unless you mean a case more aesthetically designed for a smaller GPU foot print.

I'm still a fan of big and boxy 😀

I mean other case makers will make small cases! Which yes, they will be more aesthetically designed lol

Sorry it's taking a while, I finally had some time to try and complete the build today. Then I realized I ordered DDR3 memory instead of DDR4... Frustrating.
I ordered new memory today, I'll update when I finish the build and run it.

If you haven't bought it yet, make sure you get fast DDR4. Skylake benefits from it and its not very much more money. ~DDR4-3000 if you can

I bought Kingston HyperX 2133Mhz DDR4. 2133Mhz memory is the max my motherboard supports.

is it Gigabyte Z170N-WIFI ?
Support for DDR4 3200(O.C.) /3000(O.C.) /2800(O.C.) /2666(O.C.) /2400(O.C.) /2133 MHz memory modules

You don't have to go straight for DDR4 3000, but something like DDR4 2400-2666 with low latency (CL13-14) can be found at decent prices. For example I just bought a pair of HyperX Savage 2400Mhz CL12 @1.35V with a symbolic price premium over Fury 2133. I don't expect having trouble running them at 2666Mhz CL13.

Yes, it's this motherboard.

So I would just run them at lower clock? I wasn't sure I'll overclock this build, so I wasn't too worried about the memory speed, more about latency. The Hyper X are CL14, but I just cancelled them I think I'll go with what you said.

All I know is that Skylake shows scaling up to the very fastest RAM you can get in certain games (most affected: Fallout 4). Id err on the side of more frequency before lower latency for skylake, though there isnt much data on that relationship for the games im talking about so it could turn out to be the other way around. I believe that frequency will still be king on skylake. I just bought ddr4 3200 and it really wasnt much more money than 2400 or 2666. Maybe $30-40 total

Yeah, no problem. Take your time. Get the memory sorted, it's likely to outlast your board so, choose wisely 😎

The good news is I completed the build, and at idle the XFX R9 Nano is completely silent. I'll update on load noise as soon as I get a game up and running.

Bad news is that my i5 6600K is at 45C @ idle 🙁 I guess I didn't apply the thermal paste properly this time. Does the fact I applied the paste and cooler a week ago but only turned on the computer now make a difference?
This sucks, looks like I'll have to take it apart, clean, and reapply.
