Yeah ARK is very early in the process. They are adding content first and optimizing second, which means theyve done not all that much optimizing yet. I wouldnt buy hardware based on how ARK performs because it is very likely to continually evolve. Could be very different next patch, and different again in the following one...

Building a rig. 6600k, asus z170A, 850W PS, and fill in the rest.
want to get the r9 390, but currently seems there is no catalyst driver answer for DX11 games. 15.7 and recently 15.8 (beta) the current fix. I think the card will do well when DX12 gets rolling, but from now till then, its hard to take the plunge. I know everyone has driver issues from time to time. is amd just flailing away with DX11 for this 300 series, just waiting for DX12?

amd choose a different design with flexible option due to dx12 is coming.
while the dx11 might be held off now and then by cpu limitation you still have a great gaming experience with a 390. its what I would buy today.
the issue amd had was with the 290 series whatever it was it seems its fully fixed with the 390 series.

Benchmarks dont tell the story you have when gaming.

Spend a bit extra on the 6700K. Over 4-5 years, it's worth it.

asus z170A

This board has poor quality audio and no particular stand-out features. If you want the Asus Z170, go for the PRO Gaming board.

If you are open to other brands, Gigabyte UD3 walks all over the Z170A for less $. There is also the Gigabyte Gaming 5.

Save $40-50 on the 390 and get an XFX R9 290X with lifetime warranty. Take that $40-50 and help you step-up from a 6600K to the 6700K. Alternatively, get a larger SSD (i.e., from 256GB -> 500GB).

One of the worst optimized games of all time vs. its graphics that I can think of, worse than AC Unity, which is saying something.
