I played through Shadow of Mordor with my 7870 (which is basically the same thing as a 270x, IIRC), and was able to get ~50fps on high-ish settings. It was a wee bit choppy, and the screen tearing was pretty bad without Vsync, but otherwise quite playable. (I enjoyed the game too much for those things to get in the way)
The game is playable with both input methods, but it was predominantly designed around a gamepad, and thus a gamepad is generally preferred for this game.
Also, if you turn on Vsync and cap the framerate to 30fps (which might not seem like much, but at least it will be consistent on a 270x), using a gamepad will make that kind of framerate more bearable.
I'd have to say no. I have a 270X however it's a i3 something broadridge and I can't go 1080P on high settings. Have to do 720P and then it's playable.
high textures hurt the performance quite bad with my 7870 2GB. The choppiness was damn too annoying so I uninstalled.
I will not play games on my PC with settings lower than the consoles!
