When video card draw was outstripping available PSU power they didn't want to run the risk of system instability. So adding a power brick would alleviate that problem. And I guarantee that the amount of juice that would have been supplied by the system+brick would not be exactly equal to the system draw. They would have given a healthy amount of free overhead.

Ok Mr. Fortune Teller, how much power WILL the R600 draw? I'm sure you know for a "fact" what it is.

read it...it's for a good cause. We WANT people to want to out do each other with this :)

Ah.. It is for a good cause.

I still dont like the fact there are teams and points and all that non sense. People shouldnt lose sight of the real purpose.

I completely disagree. For some people the teams and points only helps to light a fire into the hobby and helps to justify spending money on hardware one would otherwise not need. And as far as the "real purpose", there's a reason some people choose folding over something such as SETI...

I don't know why I even bother trying explain things to you if you're not going to take the time to read and at least TRY to comprehend it. I've never claimed to know what the power draw of the R600 IS, but given the current power connector configuration I can certainly figure out what it ISN'T.
