I do. I would love to have a more powerful card for SC - DA and if this card can run it with max details or if Nvidia can fix their issues with it I'll be in the market for one. DX10 GPU's are great for DX9 games.

You'd spend $600+ on a card just to play a crappy port? No thanks I'll play it on my 360 instead. Like I said, for me DX10 cards won't be worth it until the games I listed are available. I'm looking at the R600 benchmarks right now (the level 505 site is really slow) and so far the R600 doesn't seem a whole lot better than the 8800 GTX. I guess nVidia really did do an awesome job with their G80.

No. I'd probably spend closer to $450 on it, which is about what an Xbox 360 would cost me.

That's fine. It's your preference. I'm simply saying what most will use a first-batch DX10 GPU for.

I guess I've been out of the PC vid card loop lately. When did the 8800 GTX price drop to $450? Or are you talking about the GTS? I guess since we were talking DX10 that qualifies but I always mean the high end when I discuss vid card topics 🙂

agreed.

That site made so many silly mistakes. Maybe on purpose? This viral marketing is getting very complicated and gets harder all the time to figure out what is true. Anyways no need for me to upgrade until some of these nice dx10 games come.

Meh

You'll be back here in 6 months when that "next gen 360" doesn't look so "next gen" 😉

You sure are some kinda fanboy, Joker. What is it with you and the 360? It's full of boring, lifeless games.

When did the 8800 GTX price drop to $450? Or are you talking about the GTS?
I'm talking primarily about the GTS, although the GTX's price will be close to $500 soon enough. The GTS seems like a really good deal considering it can overclock to GTX performances rather consistently.

Yeah, GTS can be had for 380ish now AR!

Most GTX prices comnig closer to 549 dollar spot while others are near the 500 mark with AR and what not.

However i dont buy into the theory of "not getting the card because there is no DX10 games to take advatange of". Before it becomes a DX10 card, its still a DX9 card! I wouldnt mind enjoying 2~3 months of maxing out AA, AFs including high res gaming. Using almost all the G80 features to its max. The DX10 is a bonus. Sort of like the 9700pro with the DX8/9 situation.

It's not a "theory" but rather a preference that Joker has about gaming. I don't see anything wrong with him not being satisfied with current PC games. If he doesn't like them, he doesn't like them. That's that.

That statement sounds like fanboism as well.

The massive amount of google ads makes me think that this is some kind of moneymaking scheme.

Thanks.

I won't bother clicking it, who knows what else is loading onto your computer from that site.

or your could use some firefox extension. adblocks takes care of the ads, no script, and no flash (don't remember name) remove other problems

I think it's more likely that he doesn't want to read about the possiblity of the Nvidia 8800GTX being beaten by the R600 than being worried about a tracking cookie.

If there'd been anything malicious on the site I'm sure somebody here would've noticed it and warned everyone by now.

Quite sure the r600 could be 50% faster with better iq, lower power consumption and cheaper, without denting many opinions.

Actually that's a great idea:

1. register a domain name for $10, host it on some cheap hosting for a month ($10? maybe less)
2. "come up" with some benchmarks of a very hotly anticipated piece of video hardware.
3. surround said benchmarks with every possible ad scheme you can find
4. post the url to one or two smaller videogame/computer enthusiast websites, and wait for it to trickle 'up' to all the big sites, such as anandtech; remember, there's literally dozens of these enthusiast sites, all with plenty of people who will click on anything related to nv/ati products that haven't been released yet.
5. watch the hit-frenzy and the ad dollars roll in.

$20 investment, plus whatever your time is in "coming up" with benchmarks and gathering advertising. The best part is, even with the obvious glaring hints of illegitimacy being noted by some astute observers, it would be too late to stop the ball from rolling--the damage is done and the word is out (and by including it on the front page of anandtech just guarantees an absurd number of hits).

Maybe i'll do it a few months before the K8L comes out. AMD/Intel 'rumors' are about the only thing that could generate more hits than nv/ati cards; given how much is riding on the K8L for AMD, whatever site brings any information about it, real or not, will have to have some hefty bandwidth to support the huge number of hits it'll get. I wish I had come up with this. Pretty shrewd 🙂

Cynical? Always :]

PS: I'm waiting for this to hit slashdot, and i'm fairly certain it will 🙂 Best part is, the person who's running this website doesn't have to do any of the word of mouth stuff--the community is so starved for information (or has nothing better to do with their time) that they'll tell everyone they know, post it to every forum they frequent, and even suggest it to the editors of slashdot, digg and what have you.

Thing is if its so fake then why did Kristopher and all his dailytech team stick behind this review. This is bothering me and others who have grown to trust and read dailytech. 🙁

I was a little surprised, too, but I have faith in Dailytech. Let's not forget it was them who was the first to disclose the 128 unified shader architect, and much of G80's specs back in October.
