Just be aware that this is not the original R4DS, it is a knockoff (all new R4DSs you order will be knockoffs as the original company went out of business a while back). But for $2.80 what's the harm?

Wow $2.74 shipped?

I have an original R4 from 2007 that cost me like $40 :[ They dropped to like 10-15 soon after, but the original R4 no longer has updated firmware.

Does this knockoff have updated firmware, like can it play newer games?

Like wow! I'm like, so going to get this.🙂

I bought an "R4 King" about 2 months ago, for about $4. It actually works very well, and uses a ripped off version of YS Menu for the OS, and it support SDHC cards. This one does not support SDHC. I would spend a little more and get this:

or

http://www.lightake.com/detail.do/sku.R4i_King_LL_ndsixl_Card_for_DSi_XL_LL_DSi_DS_Lite-28923

I have both of these and they both work well, although the R4 King has more built-in features.

My son has a DS, would someone mind giving me a brief idea of what these are good for?

The main thing that makes this great is that you can store many games, like 40+ on one 2gig memory card. No need to have a bunch of game cartridges with you.
