I found the R9 290x for $591.62 but out-of-stock.

Sapphire Technology RADEON R9 290X PCIE 4GB DDR5 DUAL DVI-D / HDMI / DP

Waiting for more price listings.

Holy moly. If the card is appearing for that on shopBLT now, I'm optimistic that the release price will be 550$ for the 290X.

Just as a point of comparison, the GTX 780 was showing up near 700$ in the week prior to release in the channel.

So...what is up with Asus not releasing the 280x yet? I see a bunch of other 280x models on Newegg, with the Asus still listed as "pre-release"

On geishalz, it seems the 290 is between 405-420€ and the 290X between 490-550€. All without VAT, so can be directly translated to $. It seems to fit a 499$ and 599/649$ price.

Yeah I was thinking of picking up the ASUS model due to the good reviews (to replace my 6970 that was damaged during my move) but they aren't showing as available :/

They've added all the non X versions to Newegg, they're still all "coming soon", but they're there now. My clicker finger is itching 😛

Reviews can't arrive fast enough, R290X seems to the one for me if hype is anything to go by. My 4770k is just waiting for shiny new companion.

Are all non X 290's going to be shipped with the reference cooler? No custom coolers for the 290 out of the gate?

If so, that's weak sauce!

We'll know more next week, but it's looking like reference cards to start with. Sign me up for at least one 😀

Actually, linus mentioned that he is testing an aftermarket 290X card for review, and none of the reviewers he "knows" has a reference 290X.

I'm hopeful that aftermarket cards are introduced for launch.

Oh nice! That's good news, because a few days ago there were arguments over aftermarket cards, if and when they'd be released, and the definition of "foreseeable future" lol.

Hmm.. when did he say that? I know there is no such thing as a reference R9 280X and all review cards were shipped with aftermarket coolers, but never knew this was the case for the R9 290X 😕

Must have been the dual small chip Hawaii that wasn't going to be available in custom cards. 😉

I have never messed around with CF or SLI, but I'm really tempted to get a 280X. My only pause is the chance of selling my 7970Ghz and maybe go straight to a 290X. I plan to go to a using my two 1080p displays along with my main with Eyefinity. Any suggestions?
