R.I.P. My XBox

My Xbox (with the dreaded Thompson drive) has finally given out. It just does not play games anymore (except for Halo 2 suprisingly enough), and barely plays DVD's. It was a nice run, a fun run, but I've had it since Day 1 and now it is finally dead. Anyone elses die on them?

not mine, still ticking, you could try to find a xbox dvd drive on ebay for 35-40 bucks and replace it. It's pretty easy.

Mine was having problem...and before consider it dead ..do this....

DROP IT ON THE FLOOR at about 2 feet of distance!Mine was having problem reading disk..and now it work a bit better lol.

Well if its broken you got nothing to lose huh 😉

Just replace the drive - there are plenty of drives FS on eBay or whatnot. Least your box isn't FRAG'ed or has a relatively major issue.

Yours lasted a year longer than mine. It died in March of '04. Fortunately, KBToys was doing clearance sales for stores that were closing at the time and I bought a new one cheap.

You can do a softmod in 20 minutes, replace the harddrive, and then never use the DVD drive again.

Um, how would he play/copy games? 😛

umm, by networking his comp and xbox via router/network cables.

You didn't answer the question. You go out and buy Halo 2, how do you play it? PC drives still can't read XBox disks, or at least all the info off of it.

you wouldnt NEED a router, it's an option. otherwise, you can just use a crossover cable between your comp and xbox.

yes, pc drives can't read xbox discs, who said anything about using the disc? 😉
