Hate to see pets go, but they all have to eventually.

Now if I could only get some owners to go away permanently...

Maybe next year a new pup for the brother to "train"?
🙂

It really hurts when you see them enter the world and then see them exit as well. We went through that with 1 of our cats about a year and a half ago and it really slammed me. Then about 4 months later we found out his sister had low grade intestinal cancer and she has been on chemo since then and doing very well until this month when we were told her white count was too low to get her chemo. 🙁

The one saving grace in all this is that he didn't have any kind of long, slow decline. He'd been pretty listless and a bit disoriented the last few weeks, but that was about it. Making the decision to take "the trip" to the vet is horrible.

We call that "The Land of Slow Butter-Flavored Squirrels".

I'm sure he's vigorously humping the leg of some poor angel up there. 😀

sorry for your loss Fausto. it's one we dog owners all have or will have to face.

My dog is 13.5 yrs old and I know to enjoy everyday because time is short.

Dude... 🙁

My dog is 11 now, and he's a large breed which tend to live short lives compared to the little ones... I'll be gutted when he goes.

I'm a cat owner but the same stil applies and it's hard to face sometimes.

I still remember the day my cat of 16 years had to be put to sleep, I've never cried that hard in my life 🙁

Sorry for your loss Fausto

I know. I've just always been in denial about these guys.

We had to have "the talk" with our daughter as well. She was pretty devastated, but seems to be working through it (ie- she's talking with us about it rather than just corking it up).
dogs are legitimate members of your family. you'll have to go through a grieving process just like if you lost a human.

heck, it isn't even my dog and i feel bad.

15 is a good age, nice long life. We have a 14-15 year old on her way out as well 🙁

And you are so correct, be thankful he went the way he did. We lost our family dog this year to cancer and it was a slow horrible ordeal, we waited too long to make that trip IMO. She had lost all control over her bodily functions and couldn't stand or walk. I had to give the vet the go ahead to put her down, while my wife and teenage son where literally crying and begging me not to. My son has gotten over it now and I think he understands it was the right thing, but damn that was the hardest fvcking thing I've ever had to do🙁

Beautiful pups... I am so sorry for your loss.

BTW, what a neat story about how you got them. I was a vet tech once too, and I can just imagine your surprise when you realized you had viable pups!!!!

The couple that owned the mom (a King Charles Spaniel) were utterly clueless and didn't want the pups. A few of us at the vet each took home one or two and looked after them until they were big enough to be adopted or just kept them. We originally just had the one and then adopted one of his brothers at 6 weeks so he'd have company. 🙂
