John Updike, prize-winning writer, dead at age 76
I still remember reading "Rabbit Run" when I was a senior in high school.

Missed the news of his passing - thanks for the info Linflas. I too enjoyed Rabbit Run and a few short stories he wrote with Harry Rabbit Angstrom again as the protagonist.

I love good literature, and I certainly don't dislike John Updike at all, but I personally don't "get" his place in the pantheon of tier one novelists.

I actually have a higher opinion of some of his poetry than I do of his novels.

But . . . NOT trying to dump on the guy. Godspeed, John!

Almost forgot, but the guy was a GREAT writer of literary criticism.
