:(

we had to do the same thing with my dog in october. She was 17, I was so young when we got her, I do not remember her as a puppy. She always had the grey beard... even when she was young she had that. :)
but yep, its so hard to look your dog in the eyes the last day, but its good. I did tear up, and I had to get running to school that morning so I didn't get to enjoy as long of a last moment as I'd have liked. But yea, dogs are very smart and I think they understand. It's so sad to see a dog's eye look glazed and sad too.

Thanks so much everyone... You guy's are awesome...

We had to put him down because of his health... He was only getting worse with every passing day, and we're moving to another city in two weeks... I didn't want him to be put through that move...

He was full of cancer, Could barely see and couldn't hear anymore... His arthritis was so bad he could barely stand any longer, so it was his time...

Thanks again everyone... Like Dug said... He's rockin out somewhere... :D

Aww I feel for you. :( My first dog was filled with cancer as well, but surprisingly she was able to play frisbee with us the day before she was put down,so strong :( Have you considered getting another dog? We did and she's great :) Sorta fills the void

How was he put down? Were you there?

Put to sleep... And no, I couldn't... I wanted too up until the last day, and I just couldn't get myself to go... My father took him to the vet, and brought him home to be burried at his favorite place...

You never truly lose a friend, you just think of them in a different way. The best thing that a friend can give you is memories. Just keep those memories close to your heart and talk about them with your family every chance you get. Tears and sadness will turn to Smiles and your dog (friend) will still do what he did best: Make you happy.

The loss of a pet is always so sad, it seems to upset people more than the loss of a human friend. Probably this is because our pets are always there for us no matter what, we see them every day and they love us unconditionally. Very sorry for your loss, sounds like you had a great friend.

Damn RIP dog threads ALWAYS make me cry!!! :(

My dog is 12. No idea how much longer he's got left. He'll always be my puppy though.

After my dog past away 3 years ago, I still couldn't bring myself to get another dog. RIP :(
