Says the guy with 10k+ posts here :D If you're interested in getting into 3D airplanes (the lightweight foam or balsa r/c planes that can do all the neat slow-mo tricks and hovering and whatnot), Parkzone's Typhoon 3D is a great plane to start out with. HobbyZone and other places have them for about $220 with everything you need:

I've heard the servos strip pretty easy, so you might want to pick up some $13 replacements too. Local hobby shops usually have the Typhoons in stock if you want someone to give you some pointers or don't want to wait for shipping. Fun little video is here:
