Two reasons I like SLI. You get more power than you could from a single card for a while, and you have enough power to just wait things out for a while if you want to. I won't give up hope on the 290's yet though. We'll see. Funny how we have almost the exact same rig as well, although you are pushing a lot more pixels with yours.

Agreed. The 3930k is the REAL deal. The 670 FTWs are solid.

So much for that for a good long while. Good thing i'm doing fine with 670SLI. I can wait this out for a long time. Looks like Maxwell + Haswell-E complete build for me unless this price issue clears up, like soon.

That's really the case at this time. The amount of next generation PC games that genuinely beg for a GPU upgrade at 1080p has been nil. All these games coming out such as AC4, COD Ghosts, Need for Speed Rivals, Batman AO, F1 2013 do not have next gen graphics. At the same time once we go up to 1600p, GTX780Ti/R9 290X get pummeled by heavy hitters such as C3, BF4 and Metro LL.

I called GTX780/Titan/R9 290 as stop-gap cards that are inherently overpriced before next gen titles drop unless you buy 2 for 1600p. By the time we start seeing PC games with next generation graphics, we'll have Maxwell cards for $499 that will whoop a 780. For example, true next gen games such as the Division are way out into Fall 2014. I am even starting to doubt if Witcher 3 will have next gen graphics or if it will be Witcher 2.5 with a vastly larger world.

Are you saying it's a waste investing in a 1440p monitor and a single GPU to go with it (I had the 290 in mind), and that it'll basically be obsolete (in terms of gaming performance) within 12 months? It seems very optimistic to expect next-gen games to be such an evolution from the current ones, especially since BF4/Hitman/Bioshock/whatever seem to run just fine at 1440p with a single card (according to various reviews).

What?! I didn't see that. Several tech sites reported this morning that these cards are available. That's one hell of a long wait. Imagine how funny it would be if you pre order at these prices and then they drop back to normal before it ships. LOL.

That would be pretty cool and you get the lower price of course. :)

They would ship at the lower price if you asked them to.

Prices

[...] The price charged for an order will be the price in effect at the time the order is made. Nonetheless, if the price drops before shipment and you notify NCIX of the lower price before the product is shipped, in which case (and in that case only) the price charged will be the lower price.
