Quiznos is a dying breed?

Those figures closely mirror Subway's numbers as well, and I wager most franchised eateries are not far off. I think the money comes in when a savvy owner has multiple restaurants; but yeah... nobody ever retires on just one franchise restaurant, and many do lose money.

But Quiznos.... I'd rather pay 8.00 for their food than 4.00 for Subway's equivalent. Quizno's is damn good.

I hate Quiznos. Overpriced and they dont provide any nutritional info. I even emailed them about nutritional info and was handily ignored. Fsckers.

Subways actually make quite a bit of money. From the looks if it and they poster made it sound, the food cost is fixed for a Quiznos. Subway can change what they buy based on numbers.

I dont really know though. The real money comes when you own quite a few. I know a couple who owns 10+.

I am surpised Quiznos can make a dime. I think their sandwiches taste like crap. And overpriced.

$6.19 by me. Subway runs tons of specials though. Like right now, the one down the street from me is doing 3 Footlongs for $12.99. Thats a good deal.

I haven't read the link yet, but anyway it takes like $10 worth of food from Subway (2 subs) to equal the amount of food you get in one $9 sub at Quiznos. I fail to see how Subway is so great. Cheap crappy old bread, next to zero meat or cheese.. no wonder they cost lest, DUR

I won't eat at Quiznos, the people there just don't seem to Giveashit, and the highly scientific rationing of "this much meat, this much cheese, EXACTLY this much mayo" etc. onto any given sub takes way too damned long - the guys at Subway will talk to you, memorize what you get, and occasionally arbitrarily discount something ".... This price doesn't look right. -$1"

That's largely a function based on each individual restaurant... for instance, my local Quizno's has the best service ever while the one across town is deplorable. Some managers promote good ethic and others are less... enthusiastic about it.

I think both franchises (I know subway does) mandate specific food amounts. Like at Subway. the rule is that a footlong is to only get SIX olives. Have you ever seen them put only six on? Employees will do what they want; and we as customers love the ones that toss the formula out the window and just pile sh!t on. as a customer... I hate the employee who "sticks to the formula".

I read all the comments and im pretty surpised about it. I always wondered why a large sub cost me $7.49 @ quiznos. At subway the large sub is half of that price :/

large subs are over $6 at subway.

So you get two 6" Daily Specials for $2.49 each (not sure if ALL Subways run this promo, but all of them around here do, and that spans multiple franchise owners)

Depends on the owner....the store I used to work at no longer runs that special.

that depends on what one you go to. if i hit the subway in one town the footlong BMT is $5.89 if i go to one in a town 5 minutes away the footlong BMT is $7.89.

Agreed , i'm an olive lover as well and the Subways near my home puts only a few olives on and asking for EXTRA olives costs you 50 cents extra! The one near my work will heap piles upon piles of olives whenever i asked for extra olives. I bet they call me the 'olive guy' behind my back because i go there so often and asked for the same thing every time :D

yeap some do around here. the thing i am ticked off at they killed the buy 2 get one free tuesday special they had.

if you buy 2 footlongs (with drink) you would get a 3rd footlong free.

Subway lost a customer when they dumped the stamps and then the club-card.

For a few cents more I can easily go to a Mom-Pop sub shop.
Support the locals and know the food is getting prepared locally, not sent in from the pre-processing factory.

Anyone every seen Subway slice their own meat/veggies, prepare (not bust bake) their bread?

I can see that getting done at the local shop.

Oh really? Please explain how this is? Because a Subway is limited to approved "Gold Standard" foods and supplies. There is no changing what you are allowed to buy. This applies to everything from foods to cleaning products to paper products.

I dont really know though.

That's obvious.

The real money comes when you own quite a few. I know a couple who owns 10+.

You will not earn much of a living from one franchised fast food store unless you work it full time. And even then, it's not much of a living until the store is fully paid off and you own the building.

We have a saying for people who buy their first franchise: "Congrats! You just bought yourself a low paying job!"

One doesn't even hire a store manager until they have at the very least, two stores. We didn't until we had three.

;[ Ya, everytime i go to quiznoes they weight your meat on the scale first than throw it on the sandwich. Even if its close to closing time they still rather weight the meat than give you extra which they might throw away anyway ;(

:D Im going to quiznoes @ 12 today and getting me a large turkey sandwich... lol even though im reading this i can taste the sandwitch right now!

well if that is the case, then i can whip out the fact that quizno's sends out $2 off coupons all the time, and then their large subs are $5. and it isn't limited to the flavor of the day.

I could live fairly comfortably on 45k/year.

I'm on track to make a whopping 20k gross this year.

In the link they said the coupons only robs the store owner. I mean its good for us, but it sucks for the people who owns that store.
