Well, after over 10 years of stupidity, I have finally officially decided to quit smoking. In about 5 or so minutes, I will have gone 24 hours without a puff for the first time in, well, can't remember. To all the younger people out there, if you haven't already decided not to smoke, don't do it. It's not cool, it's not grown up. It's plain stupid, expensive, dirty, unhealthy, and a pain to break free from. I am fiending soooooo much right now for a hit of nicotine. It's just like being a crackhead. I know this is the hardest part, the first few days, but I will do it, and I'll stay without it.

Congratulations. Not to use a cliche but "one day at a time" if you can't go a day go minute by minute. You're doing yourself and everybody else a favor.

Thank You

dj

(I smoked for 6 years and am much healthier since i quit)

You can do it.....just have to have the will power. I quit 3 years ago after 20+ years of smoking. If I can do it, almost anyone can.

Good luck!! :)

<< cyco5150,

Can I have your leftover cigarettes?

I'd give them to you if I had any left. I decided that my last cigarette was my last cigarette, so to speak.

BTW, thanks for all the words of encouragement, it really means a lot to me!!!

Congratulations. I quit at the beginning of this month. I took Zyban and found it remarkably helpful in supressing the urge to smoke. I've never made it this long before. Good luck to you. If you can do it, you'll be healthier, you'll smell better, and you'll have a lot more money to spend.

cyco5150,

Ace's sure fire way to kick the habit..................

Salted pretzel rods! Worked every time I quit! Quit three times in my life ranging from 4-8 months. Will quit again when I can convince my wife to quit the habit.

I stopped smoking 18 years ago. Haven't had a drag since. But I tell you what, right now I am sick and my chest feels like I have smoked a carton today. Yuck.....good luck on your ordeal. Yep, it is gonna be hard, but if I could do it, anyone can. :)

Sorry yakko, yeah I meant you. Damn Anamaniac characters get me confused!

Congratulations, my friend Cyco5150! ;)

I cannot stand the odour. It kills me . . . and I don't like to live with or be around people who smoke. :( It still puzzles me how people think it's cool to inhale that stinky, stainy, dirty thing.

Congrats cyco5150!! My father died of lung cancer 10/6/01. It still hurts tremendously having seen what he went through.

For those of you who still smoke, and think it will not happen to you, guess again. My father quit over 13 years ago and was told on his 65th birthday that he was not treatable. If you do not quit for yourself, look at your children...or your wife.......or any other person who cares for you, now imagine how much pain you will be inflicting upon those people you love when you become ill. Quit for them. Hey, I Love You. It would hurt me also. Please stop now!!!:(
