Quitting my job and using a transcript of Lebron James' "The Decision" as a template

So I recently got a job that I'll have to work half as many hours for, but will pay me almost the same thing. Seeing as I'm in grad school, this is a very good thing. Now over the last year I've worked over 40 hours/week AND been going to school full-time, but this job is just wearing on me. here's a thread about it.....and here's another thread about it.

I think I'm going to use this transcript as a template for quitting. I don't need this place for a reference any more, and honestly I would never want to work at a place that's as unethical and shady as where I am now, so I'm not worried about repercussions. I'm not trying to be flippant, more humorous, and any suggestions on lines to work in from the transcript would be appreciated.

as funny as it may be (and im not going to bother with the transcript) id sooner just leave. nevermind whether you need the reference or not, its not really going to do you any good to be a dick to them.

that being said...if you really hate the place and dont need the reference, ever, i wouldnt blame you for not giving a full 2 weeks notice. thats about as far as id take it when leaving a job i really didnt care about.

yah, don't need the reference, they screwed over the last 3 people that left (took their vacation days and refused to pay them out on VERY suspect reasons), and I expect the same to happen to me.

I just really want to say "I have decided to take my talents to Chestnut Hill and the BC Eagles" (where my new job is)

One time I did a modified Jerry MaGuire/Half Baked flip out. It was probably 7 years ago at some shitty telemarketing job, so I didn't care about any reference.

I snapped, cursed out a manager, cursed out some employees (in jest), then asked them who's coming with me? When no one spoke up I thew my headset against a wall and said "Fuck you all I'm out!"

Later on a ran into some people from that job that said they were pretty close to walking out with me, which was funny, but not really my intent.

Never burn a bridge, you don't know who you might meet in the future. For example, we were recently interviewing for a new programmer. One of the guys who came in seemed very good for the job. However, he once worked at a place that my boss had done some consulting for. He knew the guy's attitude and work ethic from his experiences there and that swayed his decision not to hire him.

'fuk you, fuk you, you are cool, fuk you, I am outta here" is how I'd do it when it's time for me to quit.

Leaving the mental health field so soon? :)

Don't burn your bridges....ya just never know. ;)

Oh I'm not leaving the field...just this place.

It's funny, but looking at the letter now, it looks really sincere.

other than the fact that in the background ever so faintly I used word 2007 to watermark "The Decision" on the page

I would suggest leaving with a little class. Don't let the unprofessional management and culture of this company affect your professionalism.

You never know when you may encounter a fellow employee or even an ex-manager at another firm down the road, and you don't want to be remembered as the guy who left a firestorm behind him.

You never know when you may encounter a fellow employee or even an ex-manager at another firm down the road, and you don't want to be remembered as the guy who left a firestorm behind him.

Here's how it turned out, it doesn't sound that bad actually.

As you know, this autumn I will be in grad school full-time once again, along with having an internship. Earlier this summer I began the process of deciphering what job would be the best fit to go with this schedule. The process has been everything I thought it would be and more. I was in a position to have the opportunity to hear from many different companies, and figure out what was the best possible situation for me. I've taken a lot of advice from my friends, family, and a lot of people that I look towards in a time of need or for advice, and they told me you ultimately have to live with your decision that you're going to make, and you have to do what's best for you, your family, and for you to ultimately be happy. The one thing my mother told me when I was going through this process and what ultimately helped me make my decision is you have to do what's best for you and what's going to make you happy at the end of the day, because no one can live with the consequences or anything that comes with your decision besides you. Certain parts of the process I can't control, but I expected to be able to go through this process and be able to sit down with my family and talk about the best possible situation for me.
Ultimately the decision boiled down to having to put myself in the right position to be able to accomplish the goals I have set out for myself. Therefore this fall I will be taking my talents to Chestnut Hill and the BC Eagles. This choice was very heartfelt for me. The eighteen months plus I have given to [Company Name] were everything to me. I never wanted to leave [Company Name], and my heart will always be with the consumers in the program. I do not see it as leaving [Company Name] so much as joining forces with an organization that I respect greatly in BC. This decision is a very emotional one for me. I know it will be emotional for [Company Name] as well. If it was a perfect world, I would have loved to stay, because I've done so many great things for [Company Name], and they've done so many great things for me. It was a tough decision, because of how loyal I am, and I do not like to feel like I've let people down.

Honestly...it just sounds like a heartfelt letter. My manager is big on emotional shit, and honestly this sounds exactly like something she would write.

Certainly over the top, and your current boss and fellow employees may think you are a little full of yourself, but you didn't burn any bridges.

Anyone with a good memory will see the Lebron in that letter and probably get a chuckle.

Yah, I honestly was pleased with how it turned out. I'm actually one of the last employees there. We're supposed to have a staff of 6. We're down to 2. They didn't bother to start interviewing people to fill any of the 4 empty slots until THREE MONTHS after the person gave their 2 week notice.

Whatever happened with this? Did you use it? Any reaction?

I used it. Even got faxed to the regional manager! Good times! As near as I know, no one got the joke except my friends and I. Still can't tell the story with a straight face. Like I said, I really have no desire to return to the company as it is presently constituted, but no one called me on it anyway. I actually shoot emails back & forth with the CEO occasionally. He's a nice guy, too bad the ones under him aren't.
