I guess I never *really* realized just how much of an addict I was. I mean, I knew on some level, but wow... (pun intended) I'm literally going through withdrawl. I quit WoW a while back (~May '05) for about 6 months, and quit EQ1 in early '04 for good (fsck Sony), but this is different.

Any stories to share?

Locks got nerfed today.. come back and play =)

Ahh, so my guesstimate was right.. the larger downtime kinda screamed "patch" :D. Although this destroyed the uber overpowered 41-point sub build if this is the patch that includes Shadowstep.

I quit WoW about 2 weeks ago... mostly because I nearly have 3 60's and they ruined end game raiding (regardless of the time investment I really love learning new strategies and working threw them with a group of 'friends'... very rewarding). Of course, then I found out that my EQ1 addiction might be renewed by VANGUARD. Good lord..

Any details on the godlock nerf? I'm reading conflicting reports on the official forums (surprise surprise!); anywhere from it affecting CoA and corruption to it affecting all dots, anywhere from a 10% nerf to a 27% nerf, anywhere from better than pre-2.01 to worse.

Agreed. I started playing again about 2 months ago and I'm up to level 58 on my first ever warrior... and I want to kill myself. We have nothing that makes us worth playing. Just be a paladin and you have 95% of the tanking and damage ability, along with healing, free mounts, and other random spells/goodies that make the game much more fun.

No!!! They nerf "felguard". I was so looking forward to having him when I hit 50 this weekend. :( And they also nerf the 2 dots I used the most in my grinds. Double whamy. :| :(

Warrior was the worst class to level so far :p. Oh and loads of fun updating add-ons today too it seems :(. My WoWAceUpdater has been running for about 30 minutes so far and I think it's half done... not to mention one failed because the download timed out lol.

Also, I had heard that Shadowstep was pretty lame overall. You'll probably see builds aiming more toward something like 21/0/40 or something along those lines ( note that the figure has absolutely no talent points assigned to create it, it will probably fluctuate a bit).

Lol, no worries... you still have it easier than the other 8 classes.

Do you ever not crap in a thread about Sony's competition? Go make love to your ps3 and dream of writing rootkits when you grow up. Shoo~

Just like you crap in every thread that even mentions Sony, SOE, BMG, or other other Sony affiliate.

Oh, by the way, I've posted several negative comments towards the PS3. And the Xbox360. Not much a console fan.

Crapping would be offering an off-topic opinion, as is your fort?e. This thread was about my personal experience quitting WoW, not its quality nor that of the company behind it. I'll offer my opinion on Sony only when it's on topic. Learn to make this distinction. Perhaps the strong aromas between Sony's corporate buttcheeks mask this subtlety; I'd suggest getting some fresh air. You might begin to see things more clearly.

I think it's sad how many stories you hear about some mmorpg like WoW taking over someones life and being "addicting". I met a guy a few years back who claimed EQ destroyed his life. He couldn't quit playing so his wife left with their kids and he lost his house because he got fired. I noticed this guy wasn't "right" in the head after talking to him for awhile.

I'm starting to wonder if all these people that claim games like WoW are addicting need mental help to begin with. Seriously, how could any sane person let some silly game ruin their life? I've played quite a few games and mmorpgs, none of them have got in the way of my life.

I haven't touched the game since finals started. The december 5th patch did me in. I still browse the forums though.

It's certainly the person, not the game. Sounds like that guy had some serious problems.

If you use a game as an escape from reality, you're escaping from something.
