Quit Soda/Caffine

I used to drink a ton of caffeinated soda. I was a teacher (quite a few years ago) and I drank at least a 6 pack while I was teaching and then more at home. However, later on....I found that the more caffeine I drank, the more I hurt. (Fibromyalgia) So, I stopped the caffeine and I felt better. I now love to drink water. 🙂

Goodluck sticking to it 🙂

BTW, if you're concerned about weight just go with diet soda. You can also get a lot of caffeine free soda, including sprite zero, coca cola classic without caffeine, and diet pepsi/coke without caffeine.

theyve done studies to show diet sodas are for diabetics..not diet plans..they actually have a counteractive effect..meaning they make things worse..too lazy to do a search but feel free..it's an eye opener.

They don't have any sugar. How can they be bad?

your body doesn't see it that way. it sees the artificial sweetener as a sugar and treats it similarly...

i didnt drink 1 can of soda in 3 years already.

the first week was hell for me, i felt so weak, but now i dont even get a taste for it 🙂

I suggest water with lime juice in it. Sure changes that bland water. Up North here we don't have caffeine in most pops( Sprite, 7-Up, C Plus, nor most others save cola and some root beers). Am I to understand that all these pops have caffeine added in the US? If not, then just drink Sprite to get off the caffeine, then ween the sugar from there.

Please stop with the lies.

7-up may not have it and I know sprite doesn't, but hardly anybody drinks those filthy nasty drinks. There are a lot of caffeine free sodas, but standard colas have caffeine, just as in Canada.

I need to quit, but I love Dr Pepper sooooo much. I quit for a couple of weeks last summer, but I have no will power.

Then let me introduce you to Diet Dr Pepper, aka CRACK. The ads are not a joke. You will completely forget that it's diet by your third can/glass. It is the best tasting diet drink except for a couple of small market diet rootbeers Ive had.

Diet pepsi is pretty good too. Diet Coke is nasty.

There are some splenda varieties coming out in my market that I may try too.

I've tried it. I have a hard time drinking anything diet though. I guess I just need to force myself until my taste buds die and I accept the taste.

The only time I drink caffinated soda these days is when I mix coke with bourbon or a long island iced tea. 🙂 Agreed....getting off the stuff will help you cut weight and stay healthier....

caffine = bad for your heart

I quit drinking soda/caffine 2 1/2 weeks ago. At the time I had to go to bed early to drive my friend to the airport. For whatever reason I haven't really drank much soda since then (2 glasses at a resturante).

I'm no health nut, and I'm not on a diet, but since I stopped drinking soda my weight dropped from 207 to 198. I started falling asleep around 11pm instead of 3am.

I was drinking 5 sodas per day. I don't feel as alert as I did before but I'm enjoying 8 hours of sleep and non-bloodshot eyes.

The cool thing is if you continue to not drink sodas, eventually water will start to taste really good. You will grow accustumed to the taste and actually enjoy drinking it much like you would soda.

I sort of "quit" soda. I drink it occasionally but by and large I just go without it. I stopped drinking coke and such because it was very acidic and I've had digestive system problems (unrelated), so I figured I should cut back. Additionally, I figured getting rid of the caffeine would be good, since I've always had problems sleeping. Those problems haven't completely gone away, but I think I'm probably better for it. I drink sprite slightly more often than coke but still not too often.

I crave water when not drinking soda....maybe I have an oral fixation, whether it's coke, water, beer, etc I consume.

Still even drinking diet coke or beer, nothing beats an ice cold water sometimes.
