quit smoking product

there was a quit-smoking product i took a long time ago. it was some sort of herbal pill. it would make me feel very ill when i smoked a cigarette. i cant find it anymore or even what it's active ingredients were. search engines are no help. does anyone have any ideas what it might have been or what the active ingredients were?

Champix maybe? From what I understand it just makes you not get that satisfactory feeling you get after a smoke. So after a while you basically see smoking as pointless since you get nothing out of it. At least that's how I recall it worked. Had a coworker quit smoking within a few months using it and I was surprised how well it worked as he had been trying to quit for so long.

You're thinking of Chantix, which is a prescription product, not herbal.

Are you open to alternative methods? My buddy did one that worked pretty well:

First, you need a sponsor who is available 24/7 to call.

Second, you need half a dozen jugs of unsweetened white grapefruit juice (pretty gross stuff).

Third, you chuck everything smoking-related you have. Ash trays, cigarettes, posters, keychains, anything.

Fourth, every time you feel like smoking, you drink a full 8oz of the nasty juice.

Fifth, when the craving hits hard, you call your sponsor. I was my buddy's sponsor & sometimes he'd call at 8am. I just kept telling him to drink his juice lol.

Do that for a couple weeks & see how you fare! The idea is the same as Pavlov's dogs, where he would ring a bell, feed them snacks, and eventually they got so conditioned that they would drool whenever a bell rang. Same deal for people-brains...when your bell gets rung & you really want to smoke, you change your association (over time) from something good (feeling better from smoking) to something bad (nasty juice).

Cigarettes are hard because they're an invisible sugar addiction, which is why people get so addicted to them & don't even want to quit. It can screw with your blood sugar, which has a very powerful physiological effect in terms of really NEEDING it. Most people have no idea that cigarettes even have sugar:

Cigarettes are up to 20% sugar:

Nictotine also screws with your blood sugar levels. Whereas food takes up to 20 minutes between eating & spiking, nicotine works in seconds:

It takes a few days of going cold turkey for your blood sugar response to even out, which are really hard because you're literally having withdrawls & your body is straight-up finding you. But drink your nasty juice every time you have a craving, use your sponsor as often as humanly possibly for support, and see if that does the trick!

No it wasnt champix but i'd put money on the table thats who's responsable for this destruction of human intellectual property. This stuff should never have been lost. Tbh, i think it might be something we should all micro dose. While i was on it all my nerves and tactile senses became more pronounced to me. The world was brighter. The sensations more clear. And sex was way better 🙂

after i find out what it was, i will sue the people who lost it for crimes against humanity. It also came with a real nice audio cd you listen to while u sleep. I never thought for a second it would unceremoniously vanish from space and time. Im thinking it worked as a nero-recepter inverse agonist or as an antagonist.

Sounds kinda sorta like Antabuse but designed to work against tobacco ... Im not aware of any such product.

Disulfiram (Antabuse) is the first FDA-approved medication for alcohol dependence and has been available for over 50 years. It works by inhibiting aldehyde dehydrogenase, the enzyme that converts acetaldehyde to acetate in the breakdown of alcohol. As acetaldehyde builds up the disulfiram-ethanol reaction (DER) occurs. The DER includes unpleasant and potentially dangerous symptoms such as sweating, nausea, vomiting, facial flushing, tachycardia, hyperventilation, shortness of breath, and hypotension. In severe reactions, arrhythmias and myocardial infarction, seizure, and death can occur. The DER is an aversive state that serves to extinguish an addictive behavior through negative reinforcement and behavioral counterconditioning. By taking the medication daily, the patient knows that he or she will have such a reaction if he or she drinks alcohol. This knowledge, in turn, leads to refraining from drinking. The intended use of disulfiram is to help the patient achieve an initial period of abstinence that facilitates the involvement in psychosocial treatment. from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3767185/

Yeah, that sounds just like it except it was for nicotine.

I think i finally found something. Looks like a combination of Ayurveda and st. johns wort.

I did use Chantix to quit after 20 years of a pack a day and it sure worked. The side effect that got me was the crazy and intense dreams. I would have them nightly after the first few weeks of taking Chantix. Wake up in sweats kinda nightmares wondering where the hell I was kinda dreams. Luckily it only took 3 weeks more of the Chantix before I quit that too.

Will power. It free and you won't be tied to a crutch.
For me it was as easy as could possibly be. Had a GF who asked me if I was a smoker (I wasn't doing it in her presence). I was very embarrassed. She meant a lot more to me than any damn cigarette and I've never dreamed of touching a cigarette again... or wanted to.

Do it for you! For your health.

American spirits zero sugar zero calories!!

Chantix actually works well, but for those with depression tendencies, it can cause suicidal thoughts. I know a few people that had good luck with it and actually stopped smoking. Just be sure, if you have those side effects, contact your physician and seek help asap.

Hah, diet cigarettes!

I mean, is it still addictive? (relevant article) And do you still risk smoker's lung & cancer? I think it all goes back to George Carlin's "ya gotta wanna" approach. Per OP's desire to quit smoking, quitting smoking only makes sense if you want to. My buddy that I did the nasty unsweetened grapefruit routine with as a sponsor legit wanted to quit & didn't know how & had failed multiple times at quitting before, so we tried that procedure & it worked! Honestly it's the only approach I've ever seen in-person that has actually worked. But, it only works if you personally want to do it, not just as a nice idea, especially because I tried the juice & it is pretty dang awful hahaha.
