You make a good point, XZeroII. Welcome to Off Topic.

A general trend you'll notice is that people who have faith in God generally lose faith in ATOT over time. You can make a valliant stand with well reasoned arguments and documented proof, only to be met with "Shut up... times infinity" for a rebuttal.

Eventually you'll spend less time here and learn to pick and choose the threads you waste time on.

True. I learned to pick and choose pretty good, but every now and then I look into a wrong one and see the sheer idiocy and it astounds me. Arguements like "Shut up times infinity". I guess today it just pushed me over the edge.

Having read through all this, I'll add my two cents...

Perhaps you feel justified by responses like "shut up" to start this thread, but it seems to me that the title you put on this thread ranks right up near the top on my "sheer idiocy" scale. As others have pointed out, it's unwise to judge either aethiests or christians on the basis of the unthoughtful or intentionally rude comments. If you cooly reread your starting post, can you really claim to be surprised that your rant triggered some dismissive "shut up" responses? I think there's a parable about reaping and sowing that you could apply here.

Religious belief is by definition a matter of faith, which basically means believing in something even if there is no rational reason to do so. This means that any "well reasoned arguments" or "documented proof" you may decide to use are carefully screened to support your point of view -- after all, you already know the right answer and can therefore righteously dismiss everything else. These arguments and proofs are just a means to reach an end, which is to convince some non-believer that your faith is well placed. Even if someone demolishes your arguments and proofs, your mind will not be changed because your faith was never based on them anyway. You are immune from logical arguments and proofs. So rejoice! We can never "cram our crappy beliefs down your throat".

last week when i was in court at the civil clerk's window filing some papers (for my work) one of the other clerks there who i had filed papers with in the past tried to hand me some goofy "science of something" pamphlet and she tried to get me interested in her religion (scientology i assume) because she said i never smile and need a new perspective on life. anyway, what she did was completely illegal in a court of law, especially by an offical government worker no less. it's ridiculous. i always knew there was something nutty about her btw, she had those wild eyes like she ate one too many christ chex.

i actually wanted to take her pamphlet and read it later for laughs, but then she might actually think she earned her little jesus or whatever she believes in points, so i just politely refused.

Someone posts a thread pertaining to religion here, and every single atheist or agnostic HAS to come in to take a crap on the thread and turn it into an argument, or at the very least put in some snide anti-religious remark.

When someone posts a thread about agnosticism or atheism, or evolution for that matter, you do NOT see the religious people of the board turning into a flamefest. The few God-loving denizens of this board are more than tolerant of the fact that you do not have a relationship with God as they do, yet you refuse to give them the same courtesy of acceptance.

Try to think before you're so quick to shut someone else up.
I agree. That is something that I've always noticed here. I'm a Christian and I don't shove my views down anyone's throat. (I rarely go to church any more...how can I?) But I've always noticed that if someone makes a "religious remark" they immediately get crapped on by multiple atheists. (Not all, but a lot.)

Lock this YART up, it belongs in the trash.

Why? It is in the Off Topic forum. Don't like it, don't read it.

In response to the original poster: suck it up! I didn't know people like to cram their "lack of belief" down your throat. May Zeus almighty strike you down with a bolt of lightning.
