He posted a blog on his official site, you have to sign up (free) to read it. linky Apparently he's tired of fighting and upset at Dana not letting him fight who he wants. I've been watching MMA since it had no rules or weight classes. This is a sad day, I don't think any LHW ever has faced the level of competition Rampage has. He would fight anyone at any time. His personality and humor and skills will be missed. UFC doesn't have another character like Rampage. He said he wants to focus on acting. I hope after he's away for awhile his passion for fighting will come back to him and he returns. As much as I like him I wouldn't want to see him fight if his heart wasn't there. Will suck to not see him fight Evans, that would have been a slug fest.

He's gonna pull a Couture and claim he's retiring, but when all of his funds dry up from poor money management he'll be right back to square one and DW won't let him out of his contract. He'll be fighting for another payday in a year. Tops. That's if him and Dana don't hug it out first.

Did anything come of his DUI? And this is a pretty big deal considering there won't be the Evans fight anymore...so much for the coaches on TUF.

He won't ever be a huge actor, but he has a good personality and is charming so I think he might do alright as one. I could see him being pretty decent in a buddy comedy. I don't want to see him return to MMA if he's doing it because he has bills to pay. I want to see him come back because he misses beating ass. I couldn't imagine waking up one day and no longer loving my passion in life. I know this also has to do with Dana talking shit about him in his blogs for wanting to be in the A-Team and not budging on pushing back his fight with Evans a month so Jackson could finish shooting the movie. Dana can be a huge dick.

I wish him the best in whatever happens.

Right, Dana should push back fights that Rampage has agreed to so he can fufill obligations outside of his contract with the UFC

You really know how the real world works, dont you?

MMA is not the same as UFC/et al.

I am sure the guy will continue to practice MMA.

depends. is Rampage on a contract to have more fights? if so don't count on seeing him fight in MMA until he fills it.

but in the retirement "letter" he says he does not want to fight much longer and his body can't do it.

He came in to the UFC and fought Chuck when he didn't want to because Dana though it would be a good idea. Page wanted to win a few more fights before he got the belt so the US fans who never watched Pride would know who he was. He claims he wanted to fight Machida but Dana wanted him to do TUF 10 (again) after Page said he didn't enjoy doing it the first time and really didn't want to do it a 2nd time. Dana pushes fights back all the time, we're not talking a year, 6 months or even 3 months. We're talking 1 fucking PPV so Rampage can go make a million bucks shooting a movie. Page asked him to push the fight back one event and he would be cool to fight. Dana went public and berated him knowing playing Mr. T was a dream roll for Rampage.

Dana could have budged here, especially considering Page is one of UFC's biggest stars. Page is also upset that when be fought Henderson for the Pride/UFC unification belt, he was never given the Pride belt or considered the unified champ (which was promised) Dana has dicked him numerous times. Page might not be 100% in the right here, but Dana did a whole lot to make the situation much worse than it needed to be.
