I sold some merchandise on ebay last night. I had a option where the buyer can pick it up from where live. So the auction ended and the buyer emailed me stating he is going to be in my town in a couple of weeks to pick it up. What my question is does ebay have any rule that the buyer has to buy it in a certain time frame? Or is up to me if i want to wait that long to sell it?

The only rule I know of about that is that the buyer/seller must contact each other within 3 Bus days. The arrangements that you make with the buyer are up to you.

You should have him pay now then, I mean a few weeks is a bit much.

you, the seller, are supposed to say in your sale whats acceptable to you

for example:

seller accepts paypal, money orders and bank checks only
buyer to pay $20 shipping priority mail
buyer must contact seller within 48 hrs or item will be relisted
seller will not trade with anyone with negative or no feedback
payment must reach seller within 5 consecutive days
buyer may pick up unit from seller if suitable arrangements can be made

He is not local, so the rules do not apply to him. You set all the terms that eBay doesn't already determine...

just do this:

he says two weeks right?
start an identical auction a week from now, with a one week duration, then this will make end of new auction coincide with his appearance, and TELL HIM - give him a definite deadline! If he shows, fine, just pull the auction at the last minute.

obviously, leaving things wishy washy is not a good idea if you want your money rapidly
