im looking to replace two of my 120mm fans... I was thinking why dont i replace all my fans to get my computer as quiet as possible? Right now i have 2 120mm aluminum fans which i auctally dont like very much.... they look really cool... but they dont push that much air and are really noisy! so first i need to know the quietest 120mm fans i can get... i dont want them to have leds... (these will be mounted on my radiator)

http://www.mnpctech.com/Globe.html

Panaflo FBK12G12LH

Globe S1202512L-3M

not sure which of these three... i know panflow has a good rep but globe is comin up in the stats...

Any 80mm reccomendations for an intake? right now im using a coolermaster red led (not bad)

In the back of my case i have a blue led thremaltake 120mm with controller.. does this need to be replaced or does it not get much quieter?

Im also buying some foam to put under the water cooling pump to remove any vibration...

finally my only problem is the damn vibration from my raptors... no real solution there...

also all this stuff is connected to an aerogate II... but my computer is still pretty loud...

PC Power and Cooling's Silencer fan is pretty quiet, but I haven't compared it with Panaflo.

Quieting your computer:

Silent PC Review recommends Nexus and Panaflo 120mm fans.. You can find Yate Loon fans on the internet for pretty decent prices, and Nexus fans are rebadged Yate Loons.

Get a couple Yate Loon 120mms and put them on fan controllers. Should be able to run them nice and near-silent when spinning at less than 1000rpm.

80mm Panaflos... I have a few Japanflo L1As and they are great. I'm hearing mixed reviews on the newer Chinaflos though.

Isolating those Raptors... If you can find soft rubber washers, put them on the mounting screw between the HD and the drive cage. That should dampen vibration from the HDs.

You also want to check your NB and vid card fans if they are stock-- They usually spin at some ludicrous speed like 6000-8000rpm and they are NOISY.

A quiet CPU fansink like a Zalman CNPS7000 helps as well.

Last but not least, check your PSU. If you got a PSU with an 80mm eggbeater, you need to get yourself an PSU with a slow-spinning 120mm fan like a Seasonic Super Tornado or S12, which are the quietest fan-cooled PSUs you can buy.

HTH.

I was reading a review at silent pc and the said the globe fans were quieter than the panaflows... which panaflow 120mm would you reccomend?

I have water cooling so there are no fans on the gpu, nb, and cpu... My psu is a enermax noisetaker that has a fan controller on it... when i turn it down its silent...

I dunno if i can fit rubber washers in between the hard drives and the cage... and im all out of 5.25 drive bays due to my resevoir...

i tried to put rubber bands in between the hard drives and the mount but they wouldnt fit...

Do i have any need to replace the 80mm fan i already have... or the thermaltake in the back?

Any L1A Panaflo will be pretty good but the best 120mm low noise fan is going to be Yate Loon/Nexus. You should replace you're current 80mm fan with a Panaflo L1A, and whatever the Thermaltake is ditch that as well (ThermalTake is junk).

One of my PC's has Panaflo 80mm fans and these are virtually silent, very good airflow as well.

I had picked up a Vantec Stealth 120mm for another PC but it is not very silent

That Vantec makes a really annoying clicking sound when undervolted.

I'm currently using two 120mm Panaflo L1As, but I'm still waiting for my Yate Loon D12SM-12. Running those $5 babies at 7v will result in the same performance and noise levels as the $17 Nexus ;)

It seems that the rule of thumb is: for 80mm, go for Panaflo L1A (made in Japan, not China) and for 120mm, Yate Loon or Nexus.

Silenx makes some of the quietest fans out there (11-14dba) but they are more expensive.

Get a CoolerMaser Ultra Silent. They come in 80mm and 120mm flavors, 13dba or so, but ridiculously low amount of airflow. Pretty easy to find though, and cheap compared to other 'silent' fans.

well to replace my 80mm i got one of these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...1544591000&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOTB:US:6
was only about 5 bucks so if it sucks im not worried.

Im picking up some yate loon 120mms for 5 or 10 bucks a piece... if those suck then im going with some expensive nexus fans that are like 17 a piece. All panaflo 120mm are 120X120X38.... the fans need to fit under my radiator and thats too thick.

If the thermaltake in the back of my case is too loud i might replace that with a panaflo 120mm... well see how loud the fans are when i get em.

Who knows i might try the one of the coolermasters too..

i know its been explained several times but can someone explain to me how to undervolt a fan... i have a fan controller (aerogate II) but id still like to know. The only reason im getting these fans is to circulate air out of my case and cool my radiator.

Ive seen that silent pc review but i still find it kind of unconclusive.... ive herd that the panaflo japans are the best 80mm but they think the nexus are... ugh
