I am building a system for my girlfriend with a Zalman CNPS5000 (not the CNPS3100 "flower") and the things is silent with the 100ohm resistor in place. It's a little pricey but but to bad for a full copper unit. 2Cooltek has it for $46 shipped via FedEx Express Saver. To use it you must have a mobo with the 4 mounting holes since it is too heavy to clip onto the socket. Be aware that the process is not foolproof. I am the fool that proved incorrect installation will lead to a toasted processor. Yup, 4 second is all that is needed.

There is also another silent model called the Noise Control Silverado. it's expensive as hell and hard to find in the US.

I'm running the Duron CPU at 933@1.9vcore and I'm running the fan at 7 volts. The two resistor mods that come with the cooler slow the fans a little too much IMO.
