quietest 300 psu?

the quietpc ones are super quiet... but they're more like $80..

you might just try swapping out the fan in your current one if your interested in a low cost solution.

pk...to solve your problem, switch out the fan. i did it this morning, and i can't believe the results. AOpen 275, and i put an enermax (cheap) fan in it. sitting here now and i can't hear anything. actually, i replaced all the fans in my rig with enermax fans...t'brd..alpha 8045, 2, 80mm in the back, none in the front, and it sucks air like crazy from the front.....the silence is sweet !!!!

Actually go inside the power supply?

I have an Enermax EG365P-VE 350W with a 92mm intake fan and a 80mm exhaust fan (both built into it) and it's very quiet. I used it to replace my 300W power supply that I had in there that just had a single 80mm exhaust fan and my system was much more quiet.

I'm interested in how you people opened your PSU without killing yourselves.

I've opened several psus just to clean the dust out...it's not at all dangerous if you just press the power button a couple times with no power cable connected to drain the capacitors

however I have had very bad experiences with even the simplest soldering jobs, so I don't want to attempt anything that involves solder

compusa 300w ones are extreamly quiet. Just a sugestion.

I would just change the fan to a Panaflo L1A I wrote a guide on how to its really easy + you wont have to solder OCModShop

Nice guide but two questions:

1. Why don't you use the wires that powered the original fan and avoid drilling a whole in the power supply and taking up a MB fan header????

2. Did your CPU temps go up when you went to the lower CFM panaflo????

Easiest way to put in yoru own fan... open the ps... cut the power cord going to the fan thats in there... or unplug it if you can.

if you cut it make sure the end can't short itself out

Unscrew the fan and take it out... then put in your new fan... run the power connector out hte back of the powersupply with all the other wires and plug it into the motherboard or a cord comming outa the ps.

Thats what I did on my antec pp412x witha panaflo la1.... my last powersupply before this had a normal fan connector in it so that was even easier.
