If you're willing to take it down to 380 watts, you might want to look at this.
It's pretty quiet, but I did end up changing the fan to a panaflo m1a because the fan in it makes a clicking sound... but it's still cheaper than
than other quiet supplies plus you get the fan only pluggins that all the true power supplies have.

Ya, the Antec is a good bet...they also have a TruePower 430W, but that 380 W is more than likely all you need, even for upgrades. Extremely stable, "true" PSUs.

yo, while the antec psu is indeed high quality, in my experience it is far from quiet! i really think they need to change the name because it's very misleading. i had this unit and wound up exchanging it for an enermax with a thermally controlled fan. the enermax has the advantage of having a 92mm fan as the intake so it can run a little slower. you can also now buy enermax with the "FC" function, which stands for fan control. it has a little knob on the back that you can use to control the speed of the exhaust fan. the intake (92mm) fan is still thermally controlled.

currently i'm building a new system and got the thermaltake silent purepower psu to go with my new thermaltake xaser iii case. this psu gives you control of the speed of both the exhaust AND intake fans. it comes with two controllers, one which can be mounted in a 5 1/4" drive bay, the other can be mounted in a pci bracket. i am VERY pleased with this unit - when cranking the speed way down (1500rpm) it's dead silent, if you're worried about cooling you can really crank it up and get some serious air flow going. best of all it's got a thermal protection override that will kick up the fan speeds even when you have them set low, if the unit gets too hot. all in all a really sweet unit if you're looking for quiet and control.

good luck,

joe

Joe, my Antec True330 has a 92mm fan as an intake. The whole shebang is very quiet.

"Quiet" is relative as different individuals have different tolerances for noise.

Personally, after much research over at SilentPCReview, I decided to go with Seasonic and Fortron power supplies for my systems. I haven't had a chance to install the Fortron one yet, but the Seasonic has been great. Quiet, efficient, and the best thing is that they're cheaper than any of the Antecs.

Antecs make great PSUs though. But if quiet is my priority, I'd go with one of the ones I mentioned above.

yeah, the true series came out after i had my antec. maybe they are more quiet than the older antecs. however, i still think the thermaltake is the best - i love the complete control they give you over the fan speeds.

Whatever power supply you can get and put a Panaflo L1a or equivelent fan in it. That's what I did to my Antec 400w psu. I didn't like the noise of the stock Adda high speed fan, so I replaced it with a PC Power and Cooling Silencer fan (20db @ 27cfm). Haven't had any problems with it and it's about a year and a half old now.

thanks for all the help guys. finally decided on the seasonic 400w. went to silentpcreview and that was listed on the top and it was pretty cheap at directron.com. plus there was a coupon code to get %10 off, which made everything even better.
